Question about headers and air pump?
I bought the rb headers but i still don't understand soemthing, ok i want to remove the air pump, of course i won't need it after i remove the cats, but i was reading some other threads that the sixth port it will not open completely because of that and it will loose power ?
Am I wrong if not how can i fix that??
Thx

ok in the S4 cars the air pump does not control the opening of the ports there is a vaccume line on the split air hose I think that is what it is called that creats the pressure for the ports to open. If you get the full system like i did form mazdatrix it comes with an adaptation to the header that hooks up to a vaccume line that replaced the split air tube and the Air Control Valve. With my setup I also recieved a block off plate for the ACV but this can be purchased seperately.

The aux. ports run off the small pipe that comes out of your cat which makes backpressure and produces about force to open your aux. ports. If you take off that cat, they won't operate.

So, w/o the cats won't open?
the split air tube hooks up to the ACV and the ACV hools up to the Air Pump so no pump ACV don woik ACV no woik split air tube no WOIK. I have not cats and my ports still function. I have the Mazdatrix dual exhaust which is the same as you except I have two pre-silencers and it is uncollected.

Riptyde I have the MT Duals on the header which is a Racing Beat one they have made an adaptation for both an O2 sensor and a smaller fitting where they have a small tube that comes with the kit and that takes the place of the split air tube and provides the pressure.
Max-Imal I think you will probably need to wire the ports open even if the air pump does not operate them. One thing I can aske you to do to verify is to check the header you bought and see if it has two wholes on it one should fit the O2 sensor and the other the one which is in question should be a small one if you do not have this one than I doubt you will be able to operate your ports without some thing else. I do not know what riptyde means by the H in the pre-silencer either.

Yes, the header come with the O2 Sensor whole , but that's it, the other one it's on the pre-silencer kind like a thin tube coming out of it, i think that's the one you're talking about
