1985 RX7 GSLSE For Sale

It runs but hasn’t been driven in 10 years. All original, first with fuel injection and 13B. 138,000 miles. Purchased from a doctor who was interning in TX and put 100K on it in one year, so fast miles. Probably needs new clutch as it is original.

What is it worth?

Thanks!
Deb

Depends a lot on the condition of the car. Can you post some pictures to help us gauge the value?

That can’t be right…. 100k a year comes out to roughly 8400 miles a month….that is about 270 a day…so somewhere the math is wrong…..

Depends on mechanical condition, and if there is any rust (doesn't seem likely), you're probably at $5k-8k. If you cleaned it up, had a mechanic go over it and get new fluids, a new clutch as mentioned it would fetch the high end, maybe more? The GSL-SE was the most desirable 1st generation model. It looks to be in pretty good shape from the pictures you posted.

There is a small amount of rust on the passenger side rocker panel. I could live with 5-8K. I know it was supposed to be one of 10,000 made, a test car for Mazda with the 13B and the first with fuel injection. I know if I had the work done that you mentioned, it would probably fetch so much more, but I’m in a bind and 5-8K would help me out for a while.

Also have a 2008 Audi S5 that’s immaculate and will have to sell that at some point as well. 21K miles on it, and still has that ‘new car’ smell. 72K fully loaded with every option available. It’s really gonna kill me to sell that one too.

Too bad about selling your sweet cars. FWIW, lots of folks do well with older but low mileage cars on BringATrailer.

Thanks. The S5 runs perfectly and is in perfect condition and wouldn’t have to be trailered like the RX7. 354 HP and 0-60 in 4.5, with 5 more lovely gears to go! Lol. The thing is a beast.

i know this is a little off topic, but while it sounds absolutely insane, it's also very possible. i have a cousin who is an OB/GYN and at one point he was practicing in something 2 or 3 counties and i know he moved around a lot between them - maybe not daily, but A LOT. however, in his current situation he is driving something like 4 hours to work ... ONE WAY. so, yes, while insane ... it's possible.

Yes, and he interned in TX which is a huge state. Different hospital every week. Honest to God, 100K on it the first year. Fast miles, so good miles 🤷‍♀️

I meant your Audi would probably do well on bringatrailer.com

https://bringatrailer.com/audi/s5/

That link shows what looks like a nice comp (2009 and 25K miles) that sold for $29K, among others

Anyway, good luck!

It’s a moot point anyway. It doesn’t start so no one will come look at it. God it’s such a great car but I have no mechanical ability whatsoever and don’t know anyone who does.

Thanks anyway everyone. I guess it just sits and rots because no one will want it 😓
