Mikuni Tweaks: LEAN IS MEAN!!!

I was messing around with my air/fuel mixture and leaned out the Mikuni 44 and HOLY HELL! it feels like it has 30 more hp!!!!!

My Jetting is 190 main air, 200 main fuel, 62.5 pilots and 40 pump nozzles. Does anyone in the Northeast Georgia area know of a Dyno in this area where I can start a baseline sheet? I'm dying to know how much hp my car has. I can't belive how much difference a/f mixture makes. I would like to go wideband but the skyhigh price just scares the hell out of me. Is it worth the money for a n/a carby tune? My car has 122 K on it and I'm loving it more and more everyday.

I would love to see the true potential of my 12a in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing..........................Now I'm really excited!!!!!!!

The jetting you have posted is what we have posted on threads as the optimum jetting for a 12a.

Rich is safe, leaning it out without a wideband is not wise

The only time you really have to worry about running too lean on a Rotary guys, is when you are running Turbo, or Supercharger.

At low - mid, you wont notice it but at top end, 190 air and 200 main = too lean.

Without a wideband, use max 50* increments between main and air jets. This is to ensure that the motor runs rich at top end.

I think I ran my Mikuni too lean. I'd advise not running 0.5PSi of fuel, it tends to eat rotors.

Damn clogged fuel filters....

Thanks Donnie, things are starting to come together nicely. I have my old school volk meshies on the way, can't wait to get that big brake kit from Re-Speed installed. I love the work Billy's doing over there, his Rack & Pinion conversion looks great. Can't wait to see your SA out here..................good luck man.
