I'm thinking of getting an extra bung welded onto my down pipe when I get my exhaust done. Where is the best place to put the bung (as far as funcionality and wiring it to the wideband.)

I have heard it should be at least 12 inches from the beginning of the downpipe? Is this right? Is there any problem mounting it at the end of the downpipe?

Is it better to mount it facing the drivers side of the car, or passengers side (as far as wiring goes)

Do it further back if you can. Make sure it's in a position where water and/or condensation won't get on it it. (for example, don't put it on the bottom, where water will get to it via gravity)

is it necessary to run 2 widebands from each side of the headers to see the reading of each housing to tune? for example a weber carb.

(sorry for the thread jack but i think this will help others.)

for wideband not really ... EGT on the other hand which is the better way to go by should have one for each.

I can't really say much about either as I have not had first hand experience with neither, but I have bough sitting at home right now once my shell comes in. From my reading, EGT will give you a more accurate interpretation of what is going on in each rotor housing. It will be able to tell you if your timing is correct or needs more adjustments, also would be able to tell if its running more rich one one cylinder than the other. You can always use them up in conjuction just like I'm doing.

For my Wideband i bought the Innovate LM-1 as where ever I go and even on this forum it is talked about greatly. As for my EGT kit, I purchased that from Pineapple racing. All my tuning to the engine will be done via a megasquirt.

I'd say install it after the collector if running a header. Right where the two pipes have become one. Use the 3 or 9 o'clock positions.

EGT responds slowly

A/F gauges respond almost instantaneously

EGT is good for full throttle work, but not as useful for tuning part throttle driveability issues, and part throttle is where street cars operate most of the time.

I have both kinds of instruments on my race car.
