Would you go with the Wolf3D again?

I'm looking to pick up a standalone EMS setup for my S4TII, and I wanted to try to get some honest opinions from existing Wolf3D V4 owners/tuners/users. Given the option of getting your money back, and being able to buy a different EMS, would you still keep your Wolf? What do you find to be the wors/best thing about them?

I've installed/base-tuned a MicroTech LT-8 on a different TII, with good results; but I'm looking to go with something more configurable than the LT-8, with the capability to run closed-loop (for cat cycling). I'm trying to run as close to stock emissions as possible while not 'on it'.

Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

I just sold my V4, but that was only because it looks like I will be moving to an area that has emissions requirements, and the V4 will only run split timing on a 2-rotor, but not a 3-rotor. I would have kept it otherwise. I will probably get a Wolf3D V4 Plus, but I am also considering the Haltech E11 and maybe the new Motec M600. IMO the LTX-12 just isn't quite on par with the other contenders in my budget, the TEC3 isn't worth the price or dealing with that silly 60-2 ignition wheel, and the Motec M800 is too complicated and expensive for my non-competitive needs. Disclaimer: Your needs and opinions may vary, no animals were hurt in the making of this film, and batteries not included.

Best things about the Wolf3D V4: Software, hand controller, 0.003ms injector resolution, 125-rpm mapping resolution, good interpolation (runs smoothly), scaleable (load bands can be scaled to the max boost level so that all 16 bands can be used even on non-turbo cars, and the software display can change from 4, 8, or 16 load bands or rpm bands every 125, 250, 500, or 1000rpm at the press of a button), and versatility (can work on a 1-12 cylinder engine, or 2-3 rotor engine, with MAP, TPS, and/or MAF sensors, and the stock Wolf MAP sensor can handle anything from a non-turbo engine to 23psi boost before an external sensor is needed).

Worst things about the Wolf3D V4: No datalogging, not very many experienced tuners in North America.

No matter which EMS you use, note that the stock S4 RX-7 TPS is not very good.

Thanks a lot for the in-depth response, EvilAviator. I'm going to try to hunt down someone who's using a V4 locally, so I can get a first hand look.

Good idea.

BTW, the main US Wolf dealer isn't too far from your location.

Update on the Motec M600... $3,155 just for the base ECU, add $595 for advanced functions and $625 for the wiring harness. The Wolf3D V4 Plus looks better and better all the time, lol.
