Transfer file - Help
Hello, I have a Wolf 3D v4 plus and would like some help.
I have seen that it is vere common to share setup maps here and would like some input on how to save mine. I searched for it with no success.
My main concern i related to the different option you get in the file transfer window: "from" and "to"; "PC file", "Screen", "Cartridge" and "Connected ECU".
As I have no ECU here to test it, I only have "PC file" and "Screen" options available. I can´t find the difference between transferring from "PC file" to "Screen" and viceversa. It seems that in both cases it does the same: it saves all data in a file.

This one I think is simple if im thinking about it right, its like orgin and destination, first pick the orgin "from" (where the map you want to save is) and then destination "to" (where you want to save it to and the file name) the screen I think means exactly that, you are saving whatever is directly on the screen you are viewing, and pc file, same thing it gets or makes a file on your computer, ecu is whatever map is currently loaded onto your ecu or if your saving it would be the map you want to use for your car, and cartrige i am not totatlly framilliar with because i have not done it yet and it depends on what setup you have, i think there is several ways like if the cartrige is directly connected to the ecu and you are using your hand controller to transfer or if you have a pc to cartrige cable ect.... hope this helps

Thanks a lot for your answer.
I thought same than you, but, apparently, it saves the same things if I choose from PC file to screen or from screen to PC file. Maybe it is a bug, or maybe I´m not seeing the difference in the file it saves.
Any light in this?

i think the software thinks that the file loaded from a file on the computer is different than the file loaded from an ecu and also different than the changes you made to either file loaded called the screen (the unsaved changes on the screen) so i think if you have loaded a file to your screen that is the same as the file in your computer or ecu and then try to save it, it wont matter but if you load a file from the computer and then make some changes to it then it is now different and then it gives you the choice of what you want to do with it, ie. save from screen to a different pc file or to change the file in the ecu with the new changes or load from the ecu and make the changes and then save the changes from the screen to a pc file without re-writing the ecu follow?

When I´m online with my ECU every change I do on the screen is real-time made on the ECU. Isn´t that opposite to what you are saying?
Sorry for bothering so much with a dumb thing, but it is evident that either everybody here knows this perfectly or nobody knows anything about it

Correct, but when offline then what I posted above takes effect, I understand why wolf did it that way but I hope the new software is a little easier to use and to understand for new people, are you understanding all this soo far?
also, Michael, on this topic of saving do you know if the ability to save and load .csv files is already implimented or do we have to load the software with the parameters typed below again?:
"C:\Program Files\Wolf 3D Version 4\W3dv4.exe" -passwd wolfems

I would like to give it a try but I have some hardware issues with my computer and may be offline for a couple I weeks.
