Little help, one dead wolf... :(

Any suggestions would be appreciated. On my home tonight, no issues went from 3rd to 4th and the engine dies. Try to restart, it cranks and I’ve got idot box lights but no wolf console. There is no spark at spark plug leads. The wolf appears to be getting no power (hand controller is dead and no signal via a laptop), Is there a possibility there is a fuse either internal to the wolf ECU or in line with it’s power supply? Does the 15amp Engine fuse have anything to do with supplying power to it? I've had to leave the car in town tonight(save on towing), i'm just curious if anyone's had this issue before.

Thanks

oops it's a version 4.0 Wolf .

Sounds like you have lost one of the battery feeds to me. The 15 amp fuse depends on how it is wired! But if it is blown and you car doesn't start replace it!

Engine fuse was the answer, no I just have to figure out what caused it to go bang.

Usually the engine fuse blows when the fuel pump starts to go. I would check your pump out!

David Hayes has the plus version for his Banzai 20b from Pettit. A small section of the ecu blew on him giving him problems. Wolf sent him another one and it blew too. It had something to do with the A/C. There may be a bad batch of ecu's running around.

My guess is that back emf from some circuit may cause this, the AC clutch could be the culprit! Maybe it needs a diode to protect it.

Thanks for the responses, my 1st thought was i'd cooked the wolf, was rather happy it was a 30cent fuse

The current plan is to inspect as much of the wiring between the wolf / fuse & and battery. If it goes again i'm going to have to get the wiring checked. From the people i've talked to it sounds like a short, catch is it ain't done it again.

Just thought i'd post the fix if anyone was interested.

Turns out that when the throttle was depressed fully and the engine was running, the throttle body mechanism was pressing on a wire heading to the alternator. It had eventually rubbed enough of the insulation off the wire to the point it created a short. Hence the reason why it only blew the fuse when the car was pushed hard. Basically it was a silly little thing, that probably occoured when the alterantor was replaced. It's funny how much I missed not driving it for 2 weeks.

ps - If any one needs a Auto electrican in Adelaide South Australia that knows Series 4 wiring and Wolf really well now, pm and i'll put you in contact with them.
