What to do before the SoCAL Dyno Day!

Hi all

I was wondering what we should check and do before we go do the dyno?

I am going to have

oil change
new plugs
top all fluids
check all connectors
empty out trunk
and anything else that seems sensible......

Post on what you want to share or try and do before , during and after the dyno, so we can discuss and help each other out.

I want to get a base line run with 10-12 psi and then make a 5% increase across the board to my e-manage and then do another run @ the same PSI

I will be logging with both e-manage and my LM-1 on all runs.

Actually, if your car is as bad *** as mine, you'll want a **** load of stuff in the trunk. I keep on slipping off dynos and have never been able to get an accurate reading.

My checklist will be...

Dust off car.
maybe fill with 87 Octane
vacuum carpets
put on Ray-Bans
Look like an a$$hole
Act like an a$$hole

Brag about putting down 87 hp.

Do this before you go:
replace fuel filter
clean / replace air filter
change oil (it gets hot on the dyno)
make sure your boost controller works (TONS of boost control issues at our end-of-april tuning weekend )
spark plugs, make sure your ignition works
rewire your fuel pump / make sure you've got a beefy pump (okay, that sounds strange, but you don't want fuel pressure to drop)

If you are suspicious that one of your exhaust parts is going to kill your flow (cat, etc.) install or at least bring along a backup (test pipe).

Bring these for your car:
bring computer and/or ref materials to store and adjust tuning stuff
water spray to cool ic / oil / radiator between runs
extra spark plugs, plug wires, vacuum hoses, zip ties, simple mechanical boost control as backup
bring a floppy disk / USB drive / etc to store your dyno runs

Bring these for your comfort:
bring sound control earmuffs (I don't know what to call them) -- ear plugs are a pain to put in and take out, and the cars are loud enough that you'll want protection
lawn chairs
cooler with water and drinks
snacks
basic tools
hat, sunblock

"cheats"?:
remove air filter
ice bags to put on manifold / IC
tire pressures -- add some to rear to reduce rolling resistance
if you have light stock wheels and big, heavy fancy wheels, put the light, small diameter stock wheels on
0 toe in rear
set ride height to make axle joints straight

Dude. It's a dyno run. Not a track event. It should be fine the way it is now if you are driving it on the street.

Will my lifted F150 fit in the bay? I want to see if it's really 300hp. If it is, I think I need 500hp!
