I'll play too.

Car is looking good out there ArmenMaxx.

This was last June, first time out on a new setup. It was 100F @ Willow Springs. The Viper was on Hoosiers.
I dropped almost 2 seconds last month in similar temps with a couple more changes to the car. The car should be really good this fall/winter when it cools off.

LargeOrangeFont: That thing moves! How much power is the LS putting down? Also seems pretty stable at high speeds. Aero work?

Cooldude Im envious that youve been to Laguna. Its on my bucket list. Car seemed a bit low on power did it?

Thanks! It is making 401/401 to the wheels at the moment. No aero at all yet, it just has a Mustang chin spoiler (which helped). I think I can get into the low 1.32s/high1:31s in perfect track conditions without aero. I ran a 1:33.6 last month with track temps over 110 degrees and the balance is good, but not 100% where I want it yet.

When the video was taken the car had some push in it with the new wheel/tire setup, I have almost all of it dialed out now.

Those are respectable times. That track is sketchy without aero but I still prefer Streets of willow. 110f track days are not very fun.

Thanks, I'm really trying to get all the mechanical grip I can out of the car before I put aero on. I have a Ronin GT wing for the car, I just need to make a splitter.

I really like Streets too. You can really drive hard there without getting into too much trouble if you screw up. I have not been to Streets in about a year.. The car is faster at Streets (for what it is) than it is at Big Willow because obviously Streets is a less aero dependent track.

Here is a video from almost 2 years ago running Streets counter clockwise. This was the 3rd time I had the car on track with the V8 and didn't really have the setup figured out yet. At the time I was really happy with the 1:25.3. I want to get out there in the next couple months and see what the car has in it now.

I can see your car hitting sub 1:24's CCW. What tires are you running?

Also how the hell do you manage to overlay with harrys? I have the app and use an external gopro but its a nightmare trying to overlay without using the iphone camera.

Up until Recently I've been on 255 NT01s, which was not enough tire. I now run Maxxis RC1s in 275 all around. I knocked off some high 1:23 low 1:24 laps last year, I just don't have video from that day. I don't get to Streets as much as I'd like to. Id love to get into the 1:22s with these new tire's.. We'll see

That Streets video was shot on an IPhone, that's how I got the overlay.

I now use an Aim Solo for data and Go Pros for video. I use Race Render to put the two together. I have 2 Go Pros, so I'm going to experiment with making a dual POV video next time.

What do you run @ Streets?

I ran a 1:24.1 at Streets CW on a hot 100 degree day with Dunlop Ziis before however recently I went on another hot day but ran almost a second slower because they added hay barrels by the chicane (posted video).

CCW its been a while but I believe it was high 1:24's with RS3's. With the new ohlins and fresher tires I hope to hit 1:22's as well. CCW I lose a lot of time getting into the bowl, cant get it right for some reason after I had a bad experience with a student

You are getting it done out there. That reminds me of when the chicane was actually a chicane. That was around 10 years ago, before they flattened the curbs and widened it out.

I ran Streets a lot when my car had the NA rotary in it. My best then was a high 1:31 on NT05s. That was almost 6 years ago.

Drop me a line next time you'll be out there, It would be fun to run with you, and it is always nice running with other RX7s, rotary or not. I need a refresher course on Streets to shake the rust off. Maybe we can both surprise ourselves with some good times .

Like you, I have changed a ton since going there a year ago.. New coilovers, different spring rates, new tires, different alignment.. Now that I'm thinking about it I'm not even sure what to expect.

Definitely will do! Im still learning about suspension tuning now that I have fully adjustable coils. I def need to raise my spring rate to 14k/14k even with street tires.

Its a shame we dont see too many Rx7's out there. Maybe thats why people get so shocked when a 25-30 year old car blows the doors off a Evo or Porsche.

Yes exactly. You should have seen the Ferrari 458 and 430 Scuderia owners after I passed them in a session.. They came over after to see how all that was possible.

I'm pretty good with the suspension dial in, so I might be able to lend an opinion

Ooo! I'm glad this thread is finally happening. I am too embarrassed to post my cw sow video because I was battling alignment and rear grip issues which led to confidence issues in the car. Is anyone willing to share their FD alignment settings?

-2.3 camber front
-1.5 rear
0 toe/ thrust angle.

I could use a bit more negative in the rear and a hair more in the front.

Yea a little rear toe in will give you some stability. I run toe out in the front to keep the turn in crisp.

Thanks. My alignment is definitely to neutral. I agree on some rear toe in, even on RS3s the rear end is stepping out @0 toe. I'm still on twins too.

Yes I'd only run 0 rear toe on a low powered car or something you have trouble getting to turn. A little rear toe will really help.

I switched back to 0 toe because Ive been fighting some understeer and wanted more turn in. I cant remember if it was exactly 0 but it was close. Prob should get a new alignment anyway since its all prob out of spec by now. With the new ohlins I pretty much eliminated most of the understeer but still have a hair too much. At this point, adjusting the balance could prob be done with tire pressure and alignment.

Anybody going to the GTA super lap battle Nov 12th @ Buttonwillow?

I wanted to go to that, but I'm going to Big Willow the 18th and ACS on the 21st. I can't make it to Sevenstock unfortunately.
