Tuning Session with Steve Kan in San Jose
First of all, I don't want to step on anyone's toes. I saw an earlier thread but it didn't go anywhere so I took the initative to make this happen. Well, here it goes. I am looking for three or four more cars that need to be tune by Steve Kan. We already have two confirmed. The ideal number of cars is 5 to 6. I don't want to get more than that because from past experiences. This event is been held in San Jose, CA. There is a dyno facility that we can use if needed. The name of the shop with the dyno is Tech 3 Auto, off of Monterey Road in San Jose. Their rate is $90/hr. Steve's rate is $350 per car and he said that is going up in 2007. But since I make an inquiry with him, he will honor the current rate. So that is another incentive for you to get your car tune by Steve. At the moment, the dates are to be determine but I am aiming for mid-Jan or early-Feb. Steve said he is available along those timeline. So, having said all that, I need three to four solid commitment. There will be a deposit of $100 require as a good faith. That deposit will be apply to your tuning with Steve. Questions, comments, or concerns?

When? When? WHEN???
I've got a fuel pump and a midpipe that I want to install, 350rwhp would be nice to have ASAP. Steve tuned my car before and I definitely trust the guy's experience. I'm pretty close and I'm in San Jose every now and then, so I can check out the shop it's being held at/hand my deposit over in person.

I am aiming for Febuary 17-18, since the 19th is a holiday. Federal employees like myself get that day off. Or if there is another date that will work with everybody, then let me know. But at this point, it would be the 17th and 18th of Febuary.

Yep, that actually would be a good date for me as my single should be in by then, I'm definately in. And for the record on my initial post, I followed the instructions on gotham's site and emailed some guy (rotorx or something) to set up a date and availability to get this tune thing going with steve.....but no response, should've emailed steve personally, oh well. Just wanted to set it straight....

I need to make some clarifications. First, the deposit is $200, not $100. That is Steve's requirement not mine!!! That money is NON-REFUNDABLE. It will go straight to Steve and will be apply to your credit toward your tuning session. I am waiting for Steve to respond as to when we need to send the money by. Second, the dyno tuning is optional. I choose that particular facility because it is near everything i.e. airport, back roads, and hotel. Insomniac and I are planning to do a street tuning and a little dyno tuning to clean up the maps so using the facility is up to you. But you need to let me know if you are planning to use it or not because I need to contact the dyno guy to reserve the hours. This is also important. Make sure your are 1005 about this. If you plan to use the dyno, please do not chance your mind when that day comes. Someone has to pay for the reserve time and its not going to be me. Third, it looks like we have 5 members signed up. I like to have a 6th car as an alternate in case if someone back out or if Steve have enough time. The sixth person will only have to deposit REFUNDABLE $100, which I will hold on to. If Steve has time to tune the sixth car, then that person will have to pay the rest to rest. If not, then I will refund the money back to that person.

6) ?????
That will be the order of march when it comes to the tuning session. Please have your $200 deposit money ready. I only take paypal for security reasons. Too much trouble with money order or personal check.

Damn this filled up quick. If I had my fuel pump and injectors, I'd tell Phong I'm in, but I doubt I'll have my fuel pump and injectors to do it. Maybe I'll stop by to check out everything and see how Phong's car does.

Ok, you are the stand-by #2. Be aware that Steve might or might not be able to tune your car, depending on situations. I would NOT ask for a deposit at the moment unless you move up the list. But have the money just in case. Things do come up all of the sudden and people might drop-off....

Guys,
It is best to lock down a date since I already have 4-5 groups of people wanting me in Feb.
So far, here are the groups
San Jose Feb 17-18
St. Louis Feb 24-25
Los Angeles
Northern Va
South Florida
The only tenative dates I have are for San Jose (6 people not confirmed yet) and St. Louis (13 people)
I can only do 1 more trip in Feb. Whoever give me the date will get that month. everyone else will have to move earlier or later.

Ok guys. We got the Steve's blessing. I need to lock down that weekend. I am asking for your deposit starting right now. The holiday season is here and the cash might not be all there. So I am making the deadline for the deposit on the 5th of January 07. The sooner you send your deposit, sooner we get to lock the date down. If you do not pay by that date, your name will be remove and the alternate will take your spot. Please send the deposit to my paypal account gotboost920@yahoo.com . I am verified with paypal.
The list (Revised)
1) Insomniac
2) gotboost920
3) Unnerv
4) Roto7Fd
5) 209FD
6) puffxy - standby #1
7) Shane Dizzle - standby # 2
8) Snub disphenoid - standby #3
After reviewing the responses, I made some minor correction. This is the list we will be going be and order of march. We will have 5 cars with three alternates on standby.
From Steve's site:
Please replace the following.
Fuel filter
Spark plugs + wires (If your running 14+ pounds of boost, or tuning with race gas. Please install race plugs.)
Clean or replace air filter
Please have all modifications installed properly. It will only waste time if Steve has to track down vacuum leaks and trouble shot other issues. So please have the car in good running shape before the tune. This is NOT going to be a R & R session. Have your car in top shape so everyone can get their turn.
Questions, comments, or concerns?

Depending upon how many people are commited, I will most likely stay there for 2.5 days (coming friday night and leaving monday morning) so I should be able to do 10-12 cars in a weekend. I have done as many as 16 cars in three days before so I don't see this being an issue.
