TRACK DAY: Auto Club Speedway May 29th!
Oh very funny lol!!! I'll make it a point to take a pic with my idol Paul Walker next time. I can't wait to tell him 'ah hell yea' and that he owes me a 10 sec car.
Referencing what andruiz was saying in regards to the organization of this event, I definitely agree on how poorly everything was handled. I believe in the 1st or 2nd session, we were going against cars who were in the faster classes. I think they should clear out all the cars in the current session/class then let the next class in. Practically, it was a free for all for anyone to jump in and out of each class session.
Them GTRs didn't impress me much (for the first few laps that is lol). Actually there was one driving at a snails pace in the first session; dude woulnd't let me pass.

I was in the red RX-8 sorry I never introduced myself. The guy in the red FC is LargeOrangeFont.
What times were you guys running?
My car was also getting hot, that's why I decided not to drive my last session. Did not want to risk my daily driver, it's stock with no cooling mods.

I want to make positive comment so that perhaps the changes can be made in order to improve future Redline T-Attack events..... Yes as Dino stated from the first session to last session, it was a chaotic free for all the entire day. Not enforcing common track passing rules will only lead to accidents. I could not understand the point of having official on the tracks when some drivers were allowed to break track rules without being reprimanded.
Not having colored(all the same color) wrist band really sucked. They were more interested in inspecting my helmet stickers rather than making sure that the drivers respected common track rules.
Obviously there were some drivers who felt that they owned the damn track and were completely unaware of the others rights to drive and share the same track.
I think if they did a better job in keeping track of who is in which class the event would have been more enjoyable on my behalf.
Other than that Thank you, I had a blast and look forward to the next event.

The word I was looking for was "Etiquette" or in the case of the event the lack of"Etiquette" We were all told of the passing rules and not once did I see the official enforce it. What a shame because the last thing you want is to be known as a unsafe event to attend as a driver.
Perhaps I am over reacting but having a car charge from behind you going 75+mph into a corner because they know they can make a unsafe pass with impunity does not entail a safe event.

my bad I just got confused with the cars lol. You had your name on your shirt
My times did not get recorded, I should have checked before the third session so I could get it fixed.

I know we were both trying different things through turns after the bridge. In our car if you can get in and out of that first corner cleanly and quickly, the rest of that section is easy, but if you carry too much speed in you are screwed for the next two corners after.
Our oil temps were up to 235-240, coolant was generally around 230 and I saw 240 a couple times very briefly.

According to the Alex Trabeck look alike. "I'll take American Racing for $500 please"....
One other thing I didn't understand, really not a complaint, but why did they have to check our wrist bands 4 times prior to entering the course. Were the officials afraid that after the first two or three check points, we would have our passengers jump into our cars for the ride alongs lol? You guys know what I'm talking about? I only bring it up because it impedes on the flow of the event. My suggestion is just to have it minimize to two wrist band checks.
off track when hot, i think 30-32 psi, and from what i just been told after, the z1's in 16's are best at around 37psi hot
and its ok to run pass 220 degrees fahrenheit coolant temp? i kept slowing down after my temps reached 218 and saw my stock temp gauge move up pass middle, my heater was also on full blast, i was dieing in there, haha
i have around negative 2.3 degress camber up front on both sides, but thats what the allignment machine told me 6 months ago. im thinking its a defective tire since its the only one thats peeling off like that

You are putting a lot of stress on the right front tire through the oval turns, and tire pressures are really critical there to keep the tire from getting too hot. The tire probably got too hot due to being under inflated, and cooked the outer tread area. Then scrubbing your front tires in the turns you started chunking off the hot melted tread blocks. Does your car have some understeer or did you start feeling it when you were out there?
If it is your daily driver, I would not push the car much past 220, and make sure you give the car a cool off lap, dont just come right off the track and park it. I saw 240 just a couple times briefly, but the car stayed between 220 and 230 the rest of the time.
This was probably the hottest I have ever gotten the car. My s4 temp gauge stayed at half or a tick above all day. I logged the temps with my RTEK, and found out that half temp on my S4 cluster is 220. A tick above half is 240. Generally it is around 220 (halfway up the gauge) at the track,

Saturday was fun! Big thanks to Brent and Brandon from WebridesTV (not Redline) for hooking it up with pizza, drinks and ice. You guys rock!
Too bad I didnt get to run with most of you guys on Saturday since I was in the intermediate group. My times werent getting recorded with those sticker things even after they relocated them to the hood with those plastic wing looking things. The wind sucked and our spot sucked too since it was so far from civilization. I kinda liked being able to jump into any run group because that means we can squeeze in more track time but it did suck when that pair of Porches would pass me going into tight turns. I saw them running in the Novice group and thought that was crazy!
Sunday was pretty crappy for me. I missed my first qualifying session because I was stuck in tech and I had to put on my banner and stickers on each side of the car. One of the tech guys was surprised that I didnt get my number and decals on Saturday like I should have. I told the tech guys about my timing issues and they didnt really believe me. During the second qualifying round for my class (Enthusiast RWD) I was blackflagged 3 laps into the session. I didnt know what I did wrong and it turns out it was because my times werent being recorded. The track officials told me to go to tech because my timing was not working so I spent all of my qualifying round in tech waiting for my issue to be fixed. That was two track sessions I missed out on.
Finally they gave me new timing stickers and modified those little wing things and they assured me I was good to go. I jumped into a different class to test the timing stickers for 3 laps and the timing tower gave me the thumbs up to indicate they were working 100%. Finally my class was up to run and I was placed in 23rd position. I was pretty much in last place because of my timing. During this session I drove faster to move up in the ranks. Once again, my timing was not working so I had to spend more time in tech trying to fix this annoying issue. They stuck two more timing stickers on my car for a total of 4! and they gave me a normal transponder to zip tie to my car.
The last and final run session came up and I moved down in the grid to number 24. I was second to last in this session. Once again I drove as best I could but I caught up to two slower cars and that pretty much screwed up my chances of getting a better position & time. My lap was a 2:08 which was good for 7th place (I think) in my class. The fastest Ive ran with SpeedVentures was a 2:02 and I felt I was running faster at this event. I was trying to get 2 minutes or a hair faster but I'll never know what I ran.
So Sunday's time attack sucked *** for me. I felt it was a great waste of money and I spent most of the day in tech trying to sort out my timing issues. I missed almost two whole sessions because of my timing and because I wasnt given my number and banner to place on my car on Saturday.
On the bright side, Sunday was a better day for my daughter. I ran into an old friend of mine who, to my surprise, happens to be good friends with Paul Walker. He introduced us to him and now my baby girl has met her first movie star making her the coolest baby we know

I'm not happy with how Redline conducted this event. The last time I was with them was July 2007 @ Buttonwillow before they were doing this "Time Attack" thing. They were a lot more organized back then, less crap to worry about. Please share your videos of your runs, I would like to learn from you. If it makes you feel any better, me & Fisa's timing was not working either.I put some clips together from my last session on Sat. Here is the youtube link. I'm no pro, but I'm trying to learn

EDIT: regarding water/oil/air temps: my maxes were
water 220*F (measured @ thermostat housing)
water 105*C (=221*F, measured @ rear thermostat housing /w Power FC)
air 50-55*C (stock mount IC, stock AIT sensor)
oil 220-250*F (OEM dual oil coolers)
I was running my car as hard as possible for me, as far as water temp goes, if I went too much past 220*F I would be concerened. It took almost 20 minutes of hard driving to get the water temp in my car hot enough to worry about it...
Well your camber is in the ball bark, but still may not be quite enough. I run -2.8 on NT05s and my wear and tire temps are even across the tire.
You are putting a lot of stress on the right front tire through the oval turns, and tire pressures are really critical there to keep the tire from getting too hot. The tire probably got too hot due to being under inflated, and cooked the outer tread area. Then scrubbing your front tires in the turns you started chunking off the hot melted tread blocks. and thats good to know our engines can stand pass 220 degrees, it only happens on the main straight, so i would just cruise it. but yea it is my daily so i shouldn't go pass it, also the reason i didnt go for a much more aggressive camber.
are you running individual rear camber adjusters? or just the rod?
now im thinking about slapping better tires on my mustang wheels instead of selling them

and wan, i herd most of the guys werent getting good times due to the heat, it was hotter yesterday then saturday!
actually after streets i noticed my front right tire had chunks comming off it already from the skidpad, but it just got worst on roval. and it does understeer on left turns more and more, as chunks kept comming off.

I run the stock sublink and individual rear camber adjusters.
The last run my friend had I was a passenger, so that is when I took the Palm in the car to look at the actual temps. I would usually back off for a lap or two toward the end of the session anyway cause I knew the car was getting pretty warm. I'd like to get it running a little cooler, but it is probably an airflow issue.
