These fires are a nightmare...too close to home

Well most you know of the severity of the situation. Unfortunately it was one of the reasons why I couldn't do anything this weekend. My dad and my girl's family got warnings to start packing in case the fire heads towards them in which case they would have to evacuate. I was supposed to do so much over the weekend but instead I was helping pack all day yesterday and I feel like I smoked a million cigarettes.... so much for quitting.

Anyway, just needed to vent I guess. My car peeps always cheer me up and my FC is coming along so thats a plus. Will keep you guys updated on any developments.

I feel for you, sir... I went thru the same thing last year, with the Complex fire. Flames were stopped less than 100 yards from my front door. Very ugly time.

Camphone pic I shot from the driveway, as we were evacuating at about 3am...

Just stay safe and remember that things are just things. When it comes down to it, keep your people safe.

I know Hozzman had a front-row seat, also, much closer than me.

Fires... seems like we oughta be able to do SOMEthing to better prevent them. Makes the human race look pretty damn weak, doesn't it?

Supposedly, we have the power to destroy the planet accidentally with just our vehicle exhaust... but we can't even put out a fire...

I agree... How the hell does a fire get this huge anyway???

You
d think that if it were dark you could see even the smallest of bon fires which could very easily be put out. I remember going to Sand Canyon a few times when it was cold and lighting a small fire in the fire pit and we had Fire Dept on our asses in 15 minutes cause it was a bot too windy. So sad that we can prevent (supposedly) an asteroid from hitting our planet but we cant put out a fire when it starts...
