i also wanted to add...

i guess im in charge of the race fuel. i went to a local speed shop and asked about buying race fuel. the guy had every kind of fuel there ! so what i want to do is see who else needs to get some race fuel? im going to go down next week and pay for it.. but i will pick it up a week before tuning day and bring it to the dyno. most people wanted to run 100 octane but im getting 110 octane from them. its $45 for a 5 gallon of 110 octane UNLEADED... you just pour into the gas tank and go.. its not leaded.. they also have the 126 or what ever it was but those were leaded... so here is the list so far of who is getting race fuel 110 unleaded:
1- me (rzograbian)
2. Gazo
3. David (jesuscookies)
4. Mike (pandaz-rx7)

some of you mentioned that you needed race fuel.... pm me letting me know and i will have it there on that day for you.. im just going to order them all in the 5 gallon containers so if you end up not using all of it, you will just take it with you for later use.. each person will use their own...

Thanks, Roman

I know you did, and I appreciate you thinking of me, but at that point I wasn't getting worked by RP, and Co.

I'm sick of it, and I want a "Real" tuner to do it now, and with as long as RP held off on doing the job, the timing was almost perfect

Nah, since I'm thinking it'll be next to never that I'll be able to afford to go Race Gas, even on the track, so I'll just stick with shitty 91 Oct. that way it'll run on any 91 I get...

FWIW, the difference in AFRs 100 vs 91 is so small, that not running race gas while tuning is like a 5 year old playing with matches, eventually you will get burned.... This I know. Carl

so are you for or against it?

btw, the afr's increase as octance goes up.... we are using 110 octane and i think the afr's for that is 11.8 or something like that.... and 91 is 11.2

LMK if anyone wants it, im ordering it at the end of the day..

Thanks!

I am saying it is nuts to dyno on low octane fuel IMHO. There are so many things that can go wrong. steve has the experience to adjust the AFRs accordingly so that you are fine on your 91, but tune with 100 or higher. Also, do not underestimate the value of running cool plugs if you will be road racing, or doing any extended high RPM/boost driving. Properly tuned, a car can run like stock on 11.5s. What you are talking about are personal limits on AFRs, these will vary by tuner, and by how agressive an individual wants to get. the power difference between 11.0, and 11.5 is negligible, but the likely hood of breaking something goes way up. There is WAY more to be gained with cool plugs/ relatively conservative AFRs, and aggressive timing than anything else...

i totally agree with you there... im going to be running the 110 octane and running 10.5's for plugs... then again, my goals might be different than someone elses... im tuning for up to 20 lbs.... so yea...

I have some bad news. My new motor is blown. I will be taking the motor out this weekend, and sending it back to Rob at Pineapple racing. I'm curious to see what happen 1600miles on the motor. Not sure what happen looking forward to hearing what happen. I know that I didn't have any detination, and looking at my dyno pic the a/f is good. So my spot is up for sale.

compression test:
front rotor 75psi
Rear rotor 0psi

Ladies and Gentleman

a couple of notes for everyone. The tune day is fast approaching, and I want to make sure you get the very best for your car.

Plese ensure you have a new set of spark plugs, and that your fuel filter has been recently changed (or is new). Additionally, any other general maintence items should be taken care of before the tune. Remember the more time that Steve spends addressing NON TUNE related issues, The less time you will spend on the dyno, and less time he will have to devote to tuning your car. I want everyone to have a kick *** time, and enjoy their tune. So please take the time to make sure this is done.

VERY IMPORTANT For those of you with the stock FD twin turbo set ups. YOU WILL NEED TO ADD AN ADDITIONAL BUNG TO YOUR EXHAUST FOR A WIDEBAND. It takes 45 minutes to get to your stock bung location. Again, this is time that will take away from Steve tuning your car. Putting a bung in is a very simple procedure that any exhaust shop can do. PM if you need help on this one.

For those of you who have not paid in full as of yet, I ask that you please send over the remaining balance via paypal, or if it is easier for you, you can come on by and drop off the cash. Either way, I would like to have everyone paid before the actual event. Please no lagwagons on this one.

Thanks guys, I look forward to seeing you all at the event.

Dave, what are some good hotels around the dyno shop? No **** boxes as I'll be with the lady.
Are we tuning at the same shop all weekend?
I need an address of the shop.
Whose bbq'ing and when and where is the closest liquor store?

Guess I'll have my motor back by Tuesday. Not a bad turnaround...1 week to the day and that includes transit time. Thanks Steve
So it should be running Wednesday night or Thursday at the latest. Put a few miles on it and then break it in the way down to LA on Friday. Beats the last two times I've done this (knock on wood) when I got the new engine running the night before and then had to put 500 or so miles on it by morning.

I have to gloat a little.
I just got back from driving Jury's 20b fd that will be down for the tuning. At only 7 pounds boost, that thing frigging screams. 285's out back are already not enough tire for that thing. Should be nuts when all is said and done with 10 lbs more boost. All I can say is to insist on rides
Hopefully it will smoke my friends (gnx7) modded LS1 FD as his will be on the road in two weeks also.
I'll post video (only if he wins ).

Funny post. it's good to see your a tweeker just like the rest of us. We have a list of hotels in the area that our company uses. I will post up a couple of those for you. I know there are a couple of other people traveling so they want the info too. I will post it up in a bit.

Tell Mark (GNX7) I said to bite me.

No and sort of. Reliability was also a big factor, not to mention he is a redneck
He should easily make 450 rwhp or more with a buttload of torque of course.
Bigger cam and better/ported heads and ported tb. Also has some decent headers on it.
A friend of his with a similiar setup went 10.9 on the motor alone with stock suspension and drag radials.
Marks car is setup for roadracing so he won't be able to put the power down as well. He is still a drag-*** at heart

Dave, Mark wants to know where it is you want bitten
