For anyone thinking of using a bat or pipe to fender roll here is my favorite DIY on the topic. It is both hilarious and informative, even though i can't understand a word the guy is saying.

it started to try to start at the end of the video. right off the bat I vote timing.

you have spark, you have fuel. (if you didnt it wouldnt even try.)

make sure all 4 plugs are VERY clean if not new. (even if new, make sure they are not wet now). make sure you have spark to all 4 plugs. make sure you have all the injectors pluged in. and re check your timing.

I am sure you have tried it, but try again. you will get it.

is this a KNOWN Good engine?

also, in your other video, it came very close to starting. then the second try the battery sounded way dead.

also, why did it sounds like you were pumping the throttle? if you are, stop. its not carburated. you should not have to do anything to get the car started. if anything hold it tothe floor for a few secondswhile cranking to try to clean it out. (for a first time start)

but again, you shouldnt be.

if you werenet. then sorry, it must have beeen the afm I heard.

That sucks zero. I'm sure you'll get it worked out. I had a similar prop w/ one of my start-ups. I'll try to remember and post if it pertains. Oh yeah I remember now, check all fuses in the car and engine bay.

alright guys, i redid some grounds, replaced o-rings and grouments for my injectors, cleaned off my spark plugs, and a bunch of other crap..

so i got the car to start http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMzY_Jya_oI

but it wont hold idle on its own, i have to keep gassing it in order for it to stay on,..

i pulled the engine code, code 18- throttle sensor(tps) narrow range-fixed at full-open..

im still unsure exactly what that means, but im gonna check to see if the butter flies are getting stuck,..

any more ideas?

Grab a TPS off of one of your other matching motors, i.e. S4 or S5 if you can. Also check the FSM for the voltage the TPS should be putting out at idle and check it. Bad RX7 TPS's are pretty common. I'd be pretty stoked if i were you. TPS= no biggie. Just replace it.

Congratulations man, way to go. That last startup video sounded like my car with the catback off - minus the turbo of course

.... well thats good news, your getting there.

how easy does it start up now? do you really have to try to get it to start, or does it start right up?

you can tell that the second you let off the throttle, it wants to die.

sounds like you have one of those hard to find problems. its going to be something small and stupid.

once started can you get it on the street to see if it has full power? I think that would help determin weather its not running properly and is the reason it wont idle, or weather its running just fine, but wont idle. (just an idle issue).

just going off the video, it sounds like its still not running like it should asside from not idleing. can you confirm?

at first i wasnt too sure what it was. then i pulled the engine code, and it turns out my tps is going bad..

so it wont let it idle on its own, i have to hold the gas pedal.
