CA SD Police Impounded my FD :(

So a friend of mine and myself were driving on friars rd in SD. We were at a stop light and we decided to just accelerate fast up to the limit. There was a cop at the light and thought we were racing. Well he pulled us over and had our cars impounded.

If I were racing, he would of never saw me again. He was ok, but some other douche bag cop decided to show up and act tough. talking all this **** about how he was a Force Recon Marine, MP and NCIS guy.. i was like, i don't really care, I'm a Marine too and I don't try bragging. its just stupid.. if you were all that you would look like a ****** whale. If that cop wouldn't have showed up, i would have been able to go home with just a ticket.

Well, they said they have to hold it for 30 days. Im going to be deployed by then. so i will have a friend pick it up for me. He put on the ticket i was involved in a speed contest @ 70mph..lol. ok. well, we will see how this pans out. ****!

The original cop that pulled me over was pretty cool. After everything was done, he actually gave me a ride home all the way up to oceanside from san diego. It was that other cop that was the douche. We would have been able to drive home if he hadnt showed up. Im going to call the court house today or monday and get my hearing extended until may or june. Thats when i will be back from deployment.

I mean, i was 5 mph over the speed limit. The cop was like, it "looked" like you were racing. I didn't see him there so it is what it is.

Sounds like you should just tell the court the truth at your hearing. Say you weren't racing, you were accelerating quickly up to the speed limit, then you went 5mph over at the end. There is another ticket for this, but I can't remember what it is. Either way its not anywhere near as bad as street racing.

I hope the good cop is the one that signed the ticket so he is the one at your trial giving testimony. If not, be sure and have him at your trial to give testimony as well. Sounds like his softer view will be an asset to you.

Impound fees are gonna be horrid; you should request an earlier hearing due to deployment orders.

30day impound fees can easily be $800.

Good luck!

I hate to tell you this, but no matter how you present this case you're going to lose. Speeding up as fast as you can to the speed limit with a car right next to you doing the same thing..... Well buddy that's a race. Looks like a race, sounds like a race and from everyone that may have witnessed it from the intersection or anwhere else would have viewed it as a race. You and your friend probably thought it was fun at the time, but that all ended when you heard the siren and saw the lights. I can almost guarantee you're not going to convience the judge or police otherwise too. I got a street racing ticket in San Diego and they're not nice. You can honestly expect a 1500 dollar fine, 3 years probation on your driving record and you're lucky you didn't go to jail. Oh and I was in the Marine Corps at the time as well. I was a Sergeant at the time. So yeah rank doesn't help you either. Just be hopeful your command doesn't find out about this, or you could face charges from the Marine Corps too.

Either way I wish you luck on this one, but I would definately rethink your story before you go before the judge.

dam that sucks, looks like your buddy had a body kit and they dragged his car behind.

Who started it? was it you or your buddy who was starting the "fast accelerate" thing, i have buddies who do that **** when Im following and think its a freaking race and its annoying i usually stay way behind.

I would try to see if you can get a sooner court date and explain to the judge that your in the military and need the car released before you get deployed, maybe the judge will agree to it. I mean what if the impound wont release the car to your buddy? your fucked.
