Any radiator shop should be able to do it for you or you could do it yourself with carb cleaner or gasoline.

Carb cleaner or gasoline first. Then simple green/water mixture. clear water rinse. Carb cleaner again. That should take care of it and will be much cheaper than paying someone to do it.

be sure to remove the oil t-stat prior to the above procedure AND use compress air if available.

i would rather send it to a radiator shop, they are equipped to clean such things properly and it shouldn't be very expensive.

I'd avoid the simple green since the oil cooler is aluminum

You are absolutely right. DO NOT take it to a radiator service shop. Some will say they can do it but you will get screwed. Most do not have the equipment to do it right. You may as well use a garden hose instead of taking it to a radiator shop (joke btw).

I used this place. Quick turnaround and they repair the fins plus it is not very expensive. Total including the $15 shipping charge was $91. You send it to them in through the mail/UPS. Leave the t-stat in.

Most cars did not come with oil coolers so most shops are not equipped to service them.

i guess it depends if the shop is equipped to do it or not, our radiator shop is right near our air field so maybe that is why they are equipped to do it, you can call around to find out who is equipped to service them properly.

give Pankey's Radiator a shot, they're in Hayward. Had mine steam cleaned and pressure tested to 150 psi. I don't know how much it'll cost, I know the people there so my stuff is free.

I also use this place. A+++. my beat up oil cooler come back 80% new. they clean it . fix fin. pressure testit. been using on my Race car with 120PSI of oil pressure for two years no problem.

The button line, if you are building a brand new engine with new bearing and etc. it is recomand to get your oil cooler rebuild...

You are correct in not using a Radiator shop.
I used a FAA shop in TX.

I did find United Accesories in Garland TX that will flush and test the operation of the Thermostat for ~115 + shipping. They are a FAA certified facility. Contact Gary Woodard @ 1-888-cooler2
