Damn, I'd love to go to this one and bring my friend who's been autoXing for a while, but, alas, I'll be either moving or preparing to move all of April.

Maybe I'll make it out one of these days.

I'll try to make it! I might not be able to get the 7 up by then, I'm waiting on the FD alternator kit,
but if its not running i can still bring the supra out. Its just a stock '91t, but it should be fun anyways.
Anybody coming from the Concord/Walnut Creek area?

So does anyone want to help Jake swap his tranny say this weekend or next weekend I just got my Sr Motorsports lightweight flywheel, the engine harness, and slave clutch cylinder. Also have tranny, rear end, pedals, master clutch cylinder, shifter, clutch, pressure plate, ECU, drive shaft, all tranny/diff mounts. And he is sending my all the shifter boots/housing things today or tomorrow. Can you guys think of anything else I need?

Edit: also ordered new pilot bearing and seal.

Ben if you think we can do it this weekend them i'm all in, i'll pass up HIN. I've been there a few times anyways. Does anyone else think they could assist me, i'm not very experienced with motors/trannies and could use all the help I can get! Any help would be appreciated. Ben do you want to start on Saturday morning?

we can do it the following weekend if you had plans to go, i do have something i need to take care of on Sunday but Saturday is open. i have no clue how long it will take to get everything swapped out though, i'm sure it can be done in a day but me knowing nothing about FDs would take a little longer to get things out and back together.

i put my engine and tranny in in a day, so it shouldnt take too long. Even faster if you had a lift.

this is a little different though, wiring harness needs to be swapped over, pedals need to be removed and installed, rear end needs to be swapped, transmission needs to be swapped over, flywheels swapped, guages replaced, etc. etc. etc.

i figured 2 days to be safe unless someone who has done the swap is there.

Tires?

Hey Bob, you mentioned street tires running first. Do cars with race tires/slicks run in a different class or something? I'm trying to decide if I should bring the 13x8 Revolutions for the RX-2 or not, fitting that all in the car may be difficult. They're a bit worn too, so I'm not sure if it would make things better or not.

Mike
Mike,

I'd just run on your street tires. There are many classes of cars and serious competitors are all on race tires. They have picked a car that is competitive in its class. The FD is no longer the car to have in super stock, the C-5's kill it. That's probably payback for the 5 or 6 years it was kicking C-4 tail. A lot of the guys you'll see there run events somewhere every week and go to the nationals in Kansas each year.

There are stock, prepared and modified classes. Street tire cars are all in 1 class together, but the index (handicap) for each car is determined by the type of car and what mods have been done. It's best to learn car control on street tires and the least expensive class to run. Since a lot of people in street tire have mods they will be penalized by having a lower index #. It really doesn't matter what your index or times are, it's pretty much for fun until you get more into it and try to be competitive in a class. At that time you really need to know what you're doing.

Bob

Yea how bout the weekend of the 7th then, Dan can you make it ? I think it would be really nice to have you there to help out with the harness. Since I have no idea what to do either. And also it would be nice to have another fd there for reference if we need it.

SCCA Event

Some clarification on the event....

There's 4 official runs not 3...

If anyone is interested there's another race on Sunday. (usually running the opposite direction) On Sunday, street tire works 1st group, runs second. On both days you should be done by mid day.

Hopefully there will be fun runs both days....
