NorCal 7's September Meeting

Alright folks you know what to do, Let's get some ideas. Take in the fact that by next month it may be cooling down but with Cali weather, who could know for sure?

I know Ben had suggested the American River. I don't know what there is there to do or where it is. If it is a nice place and within reasonable distance for everyone that could be an opportunity. So consider this and also other suggestions welcome. Thanks guys!

How about a traxck day at Infineon, Sept 9-10. Come run your car on the track at your own pace. It's a blast. I'll be racing both days, come check it out. Carl

unless they let people through with oil leaks, track days are still a far away dream for me . not much to do at american river. its at the bank of the river (duh) so we could probably just chill, drink, ogle at hot white chicks in bikinis.... i mean, admire nature's beauty.

Track day is ~149.00 It';s a fun day even if you do not run. You can ride along with others(there are always ~20-40 Rx7s there), check out the cool race cars, watch the races, and scope the local "talent", all for 10.00 if your not running. I'll be competing, it's just a real good time, and a good way to get familiar with how it works in case you want to do it in the future. If you do run, it costs 149.00 +~20.00 for membership. for that you get a year long subscription to Grassroots Motorsports(a ~60.00 news-stand value), and at least 4- 20 minute sessions on the full road race track with, or without an instructor. Go to www.nasaproracing.com for details. carl

Actually the head lab technician who didn't care for me was promoted to lab manager and the day he became lab manager is the day I was fired. The ******* didn't even have the ***** to fire me, had to have someone else do it.

Oh well, tomorrow I've got an interview with another geotechnical lab.

Haven't you ever seen Southpark? Pig and elephant DNA just won't splice

How did you get a job as a lab technician? Everyone else always get the cooler jobs

mmm, well, my sister got me the job, and I built experience in the job. So, networking I guess. But quite honestly, it's a boring job.

There is only one place that has all that and for damn cheap, plus parking garage that we could meet at the top of and is free on weekends. Yes, I speak of the one, the only- UC Davis MUGA (Memorial Union Games Area). Its a really cool place actually, its been awhile since I've been there, I used to go all the time. For the arcade players tokens are 5 per dollar and no game costs more than 2. And they have not just one set of Initial D machines, but 2 (thats 4 total). And then for the bowlers prices are- $1.35 per person/game. Heres their website if anyone wants it http://gamesarea.ucdavis.edu/ I think it'd be a pretty good place to have a meet, plenty of places to go out and eat afterwards too. Bit of a drive for a lot of you guys I know but once we get there everything is pretty cheap...

WOW that sounds like a good deal. How much further is it from Arden? I've been to UC Davis once but I don't remember how far away it was and we were at the hospital cuz my buddy crashed a vette at Sac Raceway. If it's not terribly far for everyone I think that would be a great place to go hang out. Take pictures at the top of the Parking Garage, play games and bowl, that would be awesome. Plus we could cruise over somewhere to go eat. The games are actually $2 per person per game for general public, since none of us are students.

Then there's always the Auto X, but let's make that a meet for anyone that wants to go, not the official monthly meet.

Yeah its a great deal, I love it cuz I can go there and play Initial D without feeling really guilty about the money I'm spending. Unfortunately it is a little ways away, from my house its almost exactly a half hour to get there, but thats mostly surface streets, from the freeway its maybe ~10-15 minutes more minutes from Arden, say 20ish max? All you really do is get onto I-80 west and Davis is right there. I'll post directions for a pretty easy back way to get right to the parking garage if we decide to do it. Also if we decide to do MUGA, we need to make sure we pick a weekend there isn't any events going on (I'll call). One time we went on a weekend when parking was supposed to be free, but there was an Earth Day hippie-fest so we got screwed out of the garage. Still managed to get free parking, but had to walk in for it. If I'm reading that right, the bowling is $2.00 only after 5PM, otherwise its the $1.35 "day rate". Maybe I'll head over there this weekend and see what it really is cuz I know that website is a little outdated at least (they have ID Vers. 3 now- on that it only says they have Vers. 2).

Ugh I still have trouble figuring out which order the freeways all merge in that area so I wouldn't be surprised. Let me just put it this way- go west on I-80 and that'll take you to Davis.
