Seems like I cracked an apex seal during the practice on sunday. Car idles rough and with low vacuum, but drives normally albeit with a little less power. Compression test verifies:

2/3 faces on front rotor with lower compression, absolute compression is 100+

rear rotor absolute compression is 90, but even pulses. Looks like I can reuse everything 'cept the seals

Time for a rebuild Not bad for a J-spec that's lasted me 2 years!

I'll be out of it for a while, until I am able to rebuild it. See you after I get it running again!

Sorry to hear the news Johnson. That isn't bad for a J-spec block though. GLW rebuild!

It couldn't have happened at a worse time too. We have too many projects going on at our house, so I have no room to bust out a rebuild in short order at the moment. Will probably get a shop to do a quick rebuild on my shortblock if it's cheaper and faster than me doing it. I just need the motor to last me till graduation, when the real build starts!

Driving the Jeep for now Looks like I'll be taking that to Dave's memorial run!

Well it looks like Tabb and her new job have a signed contract and her start date is 4/1/09. However, we probably won't move for a month or 2 after that. Had a great time yesterday! Good seeing everyone!

BTW- Hella good times Jesse. I need some Dunlop's. JK!

yeah... let me guess. you ran a 60.x

just checked... and yup. you ran a 60.x
how do you do it man?!?!?
Here I thought I did ok, and you pull a time like that in a car that is WAY less prepped then mine. you make me sick. (good job though!)

just freakin nuts!

so everyone understands, ULLLOSE runs an RX-8 in stock class. he runs light wheels, 245 Kumho race tires, shocks, a cat back, and a rear sway bar.... oh yeah, and a drop in filter. thats it.

he cant do anything else. no springs, no front sway, no pulleys, no flywheel, no 285's, no nothin. it truly is a daily driven almost showroom floor vehicle. and he pulls times like a 60 flat. I'm gonna go puke now.

I guess thats why your 58 time ntional champion. (what is it now 3 or 4 in BS?)

It was nice seeing you yesterday. I have not seen you in forever! did you get a chance to check out super miata?

EDIT:
I see the siggy says 4 time BS champ.

You almost had it right... In stock we get to change the front swaybar, not the rear. And on our car even the allowed front bar is a Mazda part.

The speed, the times and the championships came at the expense of 15 years spent in parking lots autocrossing.

My Dad, who had not turned a wheel at an autox in four years, managed a 64.2 in his first outing in the RX-8.

Nice run. Just a little wide in the long downhill left, just before the 3 cone slalom. And then you broke a little late for the tight 180.

Does your suspension bottom out? Looks like a real bumpy ride.

oh yeah, my bad. front bar, no rear bar. I almost had it right.

yeah, well the time has paid off. you are truly one of the best. not trying to stroke your ego, just stating a fact. your clearly among the Elite few.

Your dad didnt do bad at all. Thats a time I personally would ecpect your average HUMAN to be able to trun in a B stock car given he had experiance.
