I got busted a while back on Pico and 14th street near Santa Monica College. Cop pulled me over and asked me to pop the hood. Gave me one for the intake, loudness of the exhaust, and for how low it was. Had to go to the state ref for both the intake and exhaust. Swapped them both out just to pass emissions.

Damn that sucks. It is hard driving a fixed up import and even harder if it is an RX. However, you know the cliche.."you gotta pay to play", unfortunately.

Just Pondering... So if it's unmanned and you "roll" though it, and it gives you a ticket for a red light, won't that be cheaper in the end than the Ref, and returning everything to stock ?
And if they beat you up about the fact that the motor was off... tell'em it's an electric conversion... :P

If you get enough speed going first, yes. But they're commonly on an uphill and right after the light. You could also just driver over the sensor. Or take out your 9mm and shoot it.

Running a red light ticket in California is one of the most expensive you'll ever pay. Usually somewhere between $400 -$500. In comparison, in Texas it's a $50 fine.

^ yeah red lights are stupid expensive, + the traffic school as well. Almost seems i'd rather take the ref ticket ( Since I have the emissions stuff at home ).

I never seen these before, but it would be interesting to see the legal issues with these tests as well as the citation (legal violation) if any given. I say interesting but not really in a hurry to find out to be honest.

Two spotted...

1. In eagle rock, on Yosemite and Townsend I believe.

2. In Highland Park in front of the park right before the metro rail and Estrella tacos.

I'm taking the freeway to work from now on! Haha....
