I like what this guy^ is saying but if they only post a letter to you the same law and presedence should apply where notification must be acknowledged to warrant such a repair the same precedence in law has taken place with cameras at traffic lights where all cases were dismissed due to the method of recieveing a notification through the mail. What I am saying is that if you never open the letter or show acknowledgment of the notice you cannot be held accountable. I see 2 different types of mobile checkpoints one where you actually drive up on the machine and they tell you verbally you failed and recieve a notice and one where you casually drive and unaware of the checkpoint and then a letter is sent in this instance I am referring to the ladder for point of reference for my advocation of non acknowledgment.

Just see how long that works with Jury Service Notices...

No, once you're screwed like that, it's over pay the fine, and lick your wounds...
You broke the law! Even if it sucks, you pay the fine.
They can't impound your car just for failing smog.
The more you struggle with non compliance, and resistance the guiltier you look to the officer. There is no good solution except for Voting, or Moving...

Well, I've filed every Jury Duty summons in the black plastic can by my desk here. Never got a fine or a knock on the door. They go for the low hanging fruit that REPLY.

But, if you ignore a smog check, a fine or moving violation ticket it'll surely bite you.

Times I've seen them, they are positioned next to the 'meter' stoplights on a freeway ramp, forcing you to have to stop and then accelerate. If you try to coast it, then you end up running the light.

Sneaky bastages.

I heard they we're voluntary, and you don't need to stop for them. This state is so ruined politically and legally.

Just wanted to give a heads up to other rotaryheads in the Arcadia, CA Area.

Maybe 2 weeks ago I saw a mobile smog check station on Santa Anita Ave. Just south of Huntington. Be on the look out.

This is rediculous yet another reason not to live in California. I feel sorry for all the crap you guys have to put up with over there. As for voting Im sure there are more tree hugging prius loving voters than polluting horsepower lovers in Cali. Your best hope would be to move to a different county where the smog laws arent as strict.
