I've Decided Ls-1 Swap Will Be My 1st Choice !
^^ or have a "conncection" . Hey, I'm going to start on my car next summer, and am in the process of searching out motor-trans. Do any of you have a good resource? And, since we are stuck in Calif, do we need to get a Cali. pull out, or can it be sourced from anywhere?

The best bet is Craigslist, or www.copart.com if you have a connection to the auto industry. LS1tech is a good place too, but shipping is a bitch. Ebay is good if you want to pay a few extra bucks for security, and shipping is cheaper.
I bought a complete wrecked 2000 SS and parted it out, and am in my motor for really really cheap.

Did you ever look at the route of building your own motor? I see longblocks on LS1 tech pretty cheap from time to time.

nope ... the convertible is mine ... My V8 RX-7 has been running for about 5 years now ..... BTW - I would have loved to have done a LS1 swap ...but The LS1 was a brand new motor and a lot more expensive when I converted mine
My swap is also a smog legal "C.A.R.B. certified" engine swap

Are you building these for people or just for your enjoyment, Im looking into maybe getting this done. If you can point me in the direction that would be great.
I'm thinking about getting a FD witha busted motor and do an LS1 swap to it. Maybe sometime in February or something. It's a good thing so many people in the Bay Area have done this, it may help me out
taka- if you want to build one start looking for a rolling shell now. THat is the hardest part to find.
This month in Sport Compact Car Mag (Dec issue) you can see my LS1/FD in the USCC event. Gives you a good baseline of what a heads/cam setup can do with suspension upgrades. With a slightly smaller cam it would pass a CA sniffer smog test.
rx7what- you need to read a little better. The Hayabusa runs high 9's stock.. new 1000's run low low 10's, and 600's run low 11's. Unless you are a professional MC rider... you will never achieve those times. Beyond 100mph a cars better aero takes over and they start to walk bikes with big HP.
A healthy cam/heads/headers LS1/FD can run high 10's n/a with drag oriented suspension. Road race suspension cars with stickies will run mainly low 11's. With a 150HP nitrous shot I don't see why they wouldn't run 9's and be able to drive to work every day.
These conversions are capable of 200mph I'd imagine.... if you are either dumb enuf or have big enuf ***** to try it on the street. I nearly topped out 5th gear one day which was 175mphish. Still had 6th to go.....

Im not in any way dissing you. As a matter of fact I just read the artical on your car twice. Very nice, I am so glad there was a rx7 in the uscc I hope you kicked ***. I think I also saw you on tv. Was your car the one that stressed the power plant frame? Or some thing like that . Did you get it fixxed in time? Also are you allowed to tell us who won?
And for the record Im also not dissing the ls1. I have been thinking of doing the swap on mine for a long time. I just need to start buying the parts. And find a engine........
have a nice day
