I'VE DECIDED NOT TO REBUILD THE MOTOR FOR MY 94TT RX-7 !IM DOING A BUILT LS-1 SWAP SO IM LOOKING FOR A GOOD SHOP OR PERSON TO DO THE THE SWAP FOR ME ! I'LL SUPPLY THE MOTOR/TRANNY/ECU :bigthumb: ! ANY AND ALL ADVICE WELL BE THANKFUL !

Good deal.
The swap is actually really easy. If you could change a clutch, you could do the swap yourself. -Jason |
please...there is a caps lock function...
|
yeah. looks like he already found the caps lock. :)
|
start here if you havent already...
www.torquecentral.com and btw do yourself a favor and do it yourself so far i have half my interior and my tranny/engine out and am searching for the perfect donor engine/tranny to build. if you have changed your brake pads then you can do it yourself, with help from the above site of course, and when its all done you will get a lot more for your money and know how to fix all the little bugs that you will find in the first 1000 miles and of course as with anything you do yourself....you will appreciate it far more shoot me a pm if you have any questions ill be glad to help you out......my username is the same over on torquecentral as well |
don't they make a aftermarket subfame that bolts the LS-1 in? Just a shot in the dark coming from an Fc guy, but that might simplifiy the swap.
|
http://www.hinsonsupercars.com, and go to torquecentral. As soon as my engine goes, or by next winter, I'm going to start the swap. Met Mark gnx7 at thunderhill this year, looked at the car and the engine compartment and knew right then it was a much "cleaner" option than going with a single to get 400whp. If I could find somebody local to build a subframe for me, I'd probably do the whole thing myself. Hint - Hint if anybody is listening.
BTW I'm in nor cal. |
just a Q for california fd owners would this pass smog visual insp? whats the rule for enigne replacements?
|
why not just get a new car?
|
it can be made to pass everything in cali 100%. It takes a little more work and some of that stuff gets complicated but yes it can be made to pass visual and smog there are i believe 3 people running fully legal LS-1 rx7's in California search torquecentral for username danzan i think he may have started a thread on what is needed and how to accomplish it. Yes the aftermarket subframe is a modified normal rx-7 subframe. If you are going to do the swap order the subframe this winter once spring roles around wait times for the subframe can get up to 2-3 months despite what Hinson (hinson super car's) may say. But seeing as this is a rotary forum and not the engine swap subforum i will leave it at that.

I did an FC (it was at sevenstock).. it's not too hard.. except passing smog. You need to be good at wiring and getting the cats to fit isn't super easy either.

The LS1 swap is a sweet convertion.I smoke 95% of cars on the road and most street bikes. :bigthumb:
I built both of these FD's.The red FD took me 1 1/2 weeks to do. http://album.hybridz.org/data/500/medium/IMG_0837.JPG |
95%? So who actually beat your ls1 rx7? (on street)
|
And 95% of the rotary communnity hates people with reliable motors, that make more N.A. than they do with a $3000.00 turbo ;)

BTW these days I'm seriously considering the LS1 swap. ;) Other than bolts and wires - exhaust work cut the tranny hole a bit hammer the firewall 1/2" in one spot weld a few nuts on to the end of the clutch pedal Now doing it smog legal, thats a whole nother can of worms. -Jason |
