Calling AAA tomorrow to pick up my car. Somehow hes going to have to move a Red R2 out of the way, unsure if its running or not.

He keep claiming hes waiting on the tool to tighten the flywheel nut, but how hard would it be for me to tow my car (to your mechanic Bris) and slap the tranny on. Im sure it doesnt take that long. Or borrow the damn gun (pay some money/slap a diposit down) and bring it to him?

Of course when I offerd it, he said, dont worry about it; I already paid for the gun, when it comes that's all I have to do.

Problem is: I dont want to wait!

Yeah man, just call up Mike and say "Steve with the V8 Rx7 sent me your way." Tell him your situation.

If all the parts are there, i would be surprised if it took him longer than 2 days to install it.

Like i told you, Mike is a good and knowledgable mechanic and he will have your car running in no time. He also has all the tools needed for the job.

If you need his number again, let me know and i will PM you.

i know my input is late, but sorry to hear that you got screwed;
$5k is just absurd ... you can buy an FC in really good condition for that money... as for time i have no words;
i did auto->manual convesion on my own with no help in 3 weeknds on jackstands using jacks to lift & lower the trannies. There was no garage, only the alley & parking under the building i used to live in the valley. The only help came from this forum and i thank for that since all the instructions were accurate and worked from first try.
Long story short: i had a manual fc, but got rear-ended (hit n run) on the freeway. After my backpain went away i bought an auto one for $800 and did the conversion on it. New parts bought were the clutch setup and needle bearing. All rest came from donor rear-ended fc. As tools, i bought the special tool from mazdatrix to take off the flywheel bolt along with the stopper which is just a bar that attaches to flywheel to stop it from turning while you take off the nut. Tools had printed instuctions of how to tighten (manually) and still know approx what torque are you applying. Beside this, i loaned from autozone the needle bearing puller tool. That's all.

Pics :
tools :

part : 49-22000 + part : 49-22001 (thanks mazdatrix)
http://www.autozone.com/in_our_store...tch/clutch.htm

non technical swap pics : http://www.furi-dorifto.com/cars/rx7_the_swap/

those were some fun times... i miss my rx7s ... i had 5 of them

good luck with yours and hope all turns out good;
if you need info, help or documentation i still have bunch of print-outs in my garage;

fredtga...... damn from mazdatrix, its only 38+26+shipping, and Im sure it would of been faster then waiting for an impact gun, and cheaper!. DAMN IT! ....

socalrotor, dont worry. I will. And I will also give my feedback twoard the quality of his work. Some say, good things come to those who wait, although if thats the case, my car needs to be damn near perfect sense I've waited this long. So my judging his work will be tough and unforgiving.

Thanks for the feedback all,

Have fun at 7Stock, I wish I was there;not only am I at work, but I work in Irvine, VERY close to where it is, its like the fat kid reaching for a donut in the back seat.... but my little stubby arms cant reach.

Thanks John. On thursday the gun is suppose to come in. And then I can finally put this behind me. (Of course smog is next, and pending If he did everything he was suppose to that will be another headache or not).

Anyway, just keeping this on page one so I dont have to hunt for it. Ill let everyone know on thursday the status of his work. He has been calling me more often and letting me know more. (Such as the studs on the damn FD cat are hard to find so we are in the process of ordering them/finding them). But, if anyone has them (unlikely), id like to pick them up from you. Or if someone has a good cat for smog, (if I fail), id like to get that from you as well.

Anyway, Hope all is well. More info to come,

Is someone sailing a boat from China to his house to deliver this impact gun? A quick trip to Harbor Freight and a few hours later your car should be done. ****, I've done harder work without air tools in my driveway and it takes nowhere near this long to finish! Sounds like this guy has his priorities elsewhere and is dicking you around since he got his money.

Again, this guy sounds like a retard. Mazdatrix, Malloy Mazda or even your local Mazda dealer will get these parts for you. If worse comes to worse, you can go to King Bolt (or someplace like this) and get some replacement bolts w/ nuts to use. These are not parts and tools for a one off space ship, its a freakin' Mazda!!!

I say you throw acid in his face!

I called malloy, he said they come factory attached to the damn cat. He has them on will call somewhere in LA. And the gun is comming thursday. If nothing happens then, Imma pm. brismo and get my car to his mechanic. And most likely. His priorites were on this 94 R2 he completely rebuilt the front end. (I have to admit the job looks clean). But, your right. I was dicked around, but lately he has been better, like he was at first. I do expect results by the end of this week.

Ill have Acid waiting.

Mazdatrix has these under their exhaust section: http://mazdatrix.com/e7.htm

Scroll down a bit and you'll see some studs for the catalytic converter listed for $4.50. I assume they work for FDs but I'll find out very soon. One of mine stripped yesterday and need a replacement. If they work, I'll be sure to let you know. If not, take the broken stud out and use a bolt with a nut just to get the car together and out of there.

Wow, I gave him one chance to finish this, one chance to make amends, and he has failed. He informed me last week that all the bolts and everything that is needed will be here by Tuesday, and my car will be completed and in my hands by Friday. He has failed.

Not only all phone contact has been lost, but he has not called me sense last week Thursday (When he assured me my car will be completed by 10/10).

I'm done. Sick of this. AAA will be picking up my car as soon as I can get there, and I will then search (Most likely the one brismo was referring) and I will complete my car that way.

The week before last;

Monday, He called me 5 times (RECORD for him) letting me know where he was and what needs to be done.

Tuesday he called a few more times informing me what he ordered

and Wednesday telling me that they will be here by last Tuesday 10/7 and my car finished by 10/10

It is now Saturday and I have attempted to call him sense 10/6 and his message box has been full.

After my car is picked up I will give his name to prevent any bad deals or at least warn. He is a good guy and has a lot of knowledge when it comes from the 7, its too bad I can't back his work ethic and customer service.

Anyway, Ill let you know what goes on. Most likely Ill pick my car up Monday or Tuesday. I have a full weekend with work and other things to do.

I gave him 1 shot, and he missed, now its time to realize fully what you guys have been saying and listen to you as well. Go to another mechanic.

......... I guess I'm too naive and trusting. Time to chalk this one down into the learning experience and walk it off I guess. And damn it, its going to be ONE LONG walk.

^ Seriously, no joke.

I mean, wth man, people like you feed these people. FYI, mechanical work does not take that long. For anything. You could have a rebuilt engine in a month.

This is how you handle it:
1. March 15 comes, 1 month past the due date, that's extremely generous. I wouldn't blame you if you acted sooner than that. First thing you do is get your car out by any means you can. While you're at it you buy a disposable camera for 5 friggin' dollars and take lots of pics for later. But main thing is getting your car out. Pay $150 for a tow or w/e, just minimize your losses right then and there and get out. Now it's been 8 months, you're thinking the only way to save this is to let him finish. Nope. It only means he's screwed you before and will do it even more now. Get out, cut your losses now; it would have been better before, but there is no bottom to this pit, it only gets worse.

2. Second thing is give us his name. You're being a total ***#$%* to all of us by omitting his name. Some of us could end up going to him, keeping him in business longer and screwing over more people like us. Really you're just too chicken to be confrontational and you're saving yourself the discomfort of going against somebody else... no matter how bad that turns out to be.

3. Okay those are the easy things, not much chance they can go wrong. Next you collect all the records you can; I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you screwed yourself and didn't keep many records either. Using a $5 disposable camera, for example. Cheap insurance. Ok, just get what you can, take some pics now, save any receipts. Take it to small claims, simply say exactly what happened, don't leave anything out. Remember you gotta prove this, not just your word against his, so get any support you can. I think there are online tips for this, I dunno try http://www.handelonthelaw.com/, see if they got any info.

1. I have several after and before pictures of my car. Car has been towed and have the smog equipment on the way.

2. Mark Aguilar, Lives off Katella and Western. He has several new projects including an fd 13b going into a fc, and a rhd conversion.

3. Most of everything has been resolved so Small Claims is not an option. When I started this, I was 21, and didnt over veiw the contract more throughly.

This is the worst headache I have ever been through. And hopefully it is almost over. O rings, and new intake filters are the last step before my car is road worthy. Just need seats (so no springs "poke de *****" as Adam Sandler said it), and replace the radio/anntenna. Not so important but still would like it.

Thanks all for your advice, and hopefully I can prevent any other from going through him. Hes KNOWS a lot! But if you dont get a actual TIME FRAME in the contract, then hes tough to go trough. Also, if you buy parts from him, hes REALLY good, but contract work.... 3 years for a auto-manual swap says it all. 1 year after the expected finish date.

I wish all of you good luck with your cars!
-Rob

ps. I pick the o rings up today, and go on a hunt for the filters at autobacs as well today. If im lucky ill get it somged and get my registration tomorrow, and go on a nice drive.

Same guy screwed me too.

In April 2007 I paid him $1250 for a series 8 rear end and tranny. A month later he calls me to tell me that didnt include shipping and he needs $100. I send him the $100 and a week later I get my 4.33 rear end. All was well, or so I thought. I asked him about the tranny... it wasn't where he could get it. It was in storage and he would have to rent a forklift to get it... I offer to pay for the forklift. he says another clip is coming in soon and he'll sned it.... well 18 months go buy and nothing. I finally get him to answer the phone about 6 months ago and he tried to sell me a clip. I tell him enough is enough. He never answers again. This april will be 2 years. He still owes me a series 8 tranny or $800.

Next step is a Private investigator or fly to CA.

I've found the following info:

http://www.merchantcircle.com/busine...t.408-559-6068

http://www.intelius.com/results.php?...9f323b91f6582a

Seems he is in Buena Park, CA (Orange County).

More: (this may or may not be the same guy, note the slight name difference)

http://www.supraforums.com/forum/arc.../t-401268.html

From that last link this was an address for him: Mario Aguilar
7541 Syracuse Ave; Stanton, CA 90680

The guys property tax bill: http://www.flex-e-bill.com/OCTLink/S...2-10&year=2008

You can probably look up who owns that property at the local governments web site too.

His old number is 714-826-4542

anyway I'm not done. If you have any info I'd really appreciate it. If I have to fly out there and I can do it for under $800 it's worth it.
