hahaha.

I went there today, and I know he was home. He had his dad tell me he stayed up late and asked me to call him later tonight and he will update me. (I was there at 1645 *445 pm*)

---- I bet he's going to tell me that he hasn't received the tool yet so he cant complete it. But it should be in later this week or some other crap like that.

I'm sick of this. I'm 24, and I would never avoid anyone like this if I was paid by them to do a Job, I would fess up and be a man.

Anyway, I'm going to call him tonight and see what goes down. If he doesn't say its done or will be done tomorrow. Briz, I'm gonna call your mechanic and get a price from him. It shouldn't be much considering he has done most the work, just a flywheel nut needs to be removed (or tightened unsure), and something small afterwords and then smog and my car is ready to roll.

Ill update this tonight.

-Rob

(P.S. There was red 94 FD he had in the front of his house. He had it there along time ago and he told me some story that some "Indian" guy didn't pay him so he dropped it off in front of his last known address. Mysteriously it came back in front of his house. At which I'm assuming my car is still in his garage, unfinished. If I call him, I'm going to want to come by and see it.)

Wow that's ******* bullshit Rob. There is no way in hell he spent $5k on the swap if all you wanted done was a auto-manual swap. I'd say $1.5k TOPS for parts/labor, and hell, that's still a lot. I'd take his *** to small claims for about ~$3k.

Man it doesn't take that long. get your car back. 5k on an auto to manual swap is too much. i had a friend who is currently working on my car. He takes his time doing his work and we're trying to make it pass smog. But i dont mind if he takes long cause i know i will be happy in the end. 5k for a swap is just too much.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the advice, and yes. I will be picking up my car today or tomorrow.

-It was a RHD FD. BTW

-Hes 27+ (Not sure never asked, but hes not below 27)

He also has a R2 he just restored. (Instead of doing my car, he tended to that one, at which he should make 20k or so. Its only got ~20k original Miles, clean).

And yea. As I have come to figure out, I got ripped. Also to add, I wanted the 16 bit conversion, and a 4.1 gear ratio. But Im assuming that wouldnt jack the price up that high.

I went to his house again (Never did that before), so again his dad came to the door (reminds me of the dad from King of Queens), and he told me he was out riding his bike (At ~9pm, right). Somehow he slept all day, and instead of returning my call, he rides his bike >_>'

He FINALLY called me last night, at 2315 (1115pm), and says exactly what I guess, Im waiting on the gun. Turns out all that's left is to slap my Transmission on there, although I have yet to see it. -.- I told him I will be comming by either today (busy) or tomorrow (not so) to look at it. And If I dont like what I see (which I wont), I will call AAA and have it tow'ed on out of there, while we go over the invoice, and figure it out.

He "Thanked" me for my patience. I just want this over with. I just HOPE that the wireing is done. I really do. I hate wires. Especially in the FD.

And briz, yea if he refuses to get my car, Ill send out the bat signal for you and you can roll on by with that ZO6 beast. and DAMN!!! Your drivers lic. pic/avatar really hid all those muscles..... dammmmnnnn.

Get a few quotes (in writing) from a few other shops. Also, it could help if you have them write down how long they estimate the work would take. Take this with you when you go to pick up your car, and use it to leverage him on the price. Do whatever you need to do to get your car back, involve the police if you need to. This is absolutely ridiculous.

Once, I took my car into a shop for a tranny problem. Without calling and asking my permission (or telling me the price, which is required in CA), they ordered parts and fixed it to the tune of $500. So I wrote a check, drove off in my car, and promptly called the bank and stopped payment on the check. You may have to try something like that to get your car back quickly.

That might work with an actual business. But this is just some guy. His receptionist is his daddy. I doubt he even has $1000 of that $5000 on hand or in bank.

But what happened with that check? did the auto shop call you up and say wtf? I doubt they just let it slide. whole story plz.

Yeah, they did call and say wtf, and I threw the rule book at them. It pretty much shut them up, and I never went back there. Sometimes people think they can screw around with you because your a student, a woman, not rich, etc. You just have to be smarter than they are.
