Autocross in Eureka?

Would anyone be intrested in traveling Eureka to play? In the spirit of competion and camradery, and showing those boingers who's boss. If there's intrest I'll post our event dates here. I'd really like to see some new to me rotaries in an autocross enviroment. Anyone intrested?

this is where we run using part of the drag strip and part of the city airport.

WHO THE HELL LIVES IN EUREKA!!?!?!??

Seriously, if you want more scene, come down to the south. There's like DDays and track comps. I don't know how close you to Vegas but they ahve some track there, too.

We might be interested. We've been going to Stockton for SCCA meets, but that's 5 hours and Eureka is only 3 hours. We would love to get a north coast chapter of the SCCA up and running, don't know if you folks up there are interested. Email me for more info, epetersen@mcn.org, and/or pm me here with the details of the autox in Eureka. Thanks!

eatmyclutch:

ScrapFC, BLUE TII and I all live in this area, Sorry If I wanted to invite new ppl to come up and have fun. And Hwy 36 is a great drive...

RX7_Babe:

ScrapFC and I are both members of the Redwood Sports Car Club, which uses Solo II rules for our autocrosses. I would love to meet some new ppl, and could even offer limited crash space if you don't mind a couch.

Hey FC-chan, I wouldn't apologize to eatmycluch. While there may be "scene" in SoCal, he obviously has no idea how far away that is (Vegas, too) for us, and that folks like you and I have lives in northern California, that we can't just up and leave.

I don't know if your couch is big enough for 2, (cool if it is!) so my sweetie and I will probably just get a motel. Thanks for the offer, though, which is appreciated.

Yeah, I'm willing to drive a long way, but it has to be for something really special. We all drove to sevenstock 6, but it was a 14 hour each way drive. I'd consider meets in the Bay area, and those were mostly the ppl I was inviting, but anyone willing to get here is super cool in my book. A couple of our regulars at our meets are a father and son who drive their 300Z from Portland (I think), Great Guys. And there is a FD guy from Oregon (I think Medford) who comes down about once a year, but otherwise its my FC which has been down for a re-biuld for too long, ScrapFC's, and another father and son have a nicely modded FB.

So after talking to RX7_Babe, i came to the comclusion the our autocrosses rock compred to some others. 3-5 runs per day at 2-2.5 min each is a lot more seat time than she was saying she got elsewhere. Plus lunch and comraderie.

For anyone intrested the next event is Aug 26 and 27. Chaired by ScrapFC and myself (and we get to set the course!) It'll be the first race for my newly ported motor, and I'm hoping for some rotary domination. Come join me, ScrapFC, BLUE TII, RX&_Babe, tonedeftony, and (did Marcos ever get on here? well he's got a kickass red N/A FC) Cost is $12 if you've never raced with us before, lunch is $5 and i think we're having burgers on Sat and Lasagna on Sun. UNLIMITED FUN RUNS for $3 each for as long as we have people willing to work the course. And If I can convince ScrapFC and his lady (my roomates) possibly pizza and at my place Sat nite.

Haters need not reply...

All others can reply to this topic, or IM me using one of the fine methods in my sig

interested if i can find an open day or two from work, i haven't had a chance to go to an autocross yet this year and this looks like a nice spot right on the ocean plus that is a bit more track time then we usually get down here.

due to my schedule it's hard for me to remember stuff like this so if you can maybe you can remind me a few days in advance.

Hey, Ben, it would be totally cool if you could come up. These folks really know how to have fun! And everyone is super nice (though we found that to be the case in Stockton, too, there are just fewer in Eureka so it's easier to get to know people).

Ben, I send out a similar reminder to the other FC owners in Fort Bragg, so I'll put you on that list also, and let you know about a week in advance of the autocross.

Yeah, the drift guy had some insurance problems from what i remember, and he wanted to borrow our cones. The club was not too into it.

Wasn't it the guy with the Supra who was putting that together? (His name was Jeff, IIRC) I'm pretty sure it was the insurance that killed them. They just couldn't get coverage.
I would really love to see another FD come out. FDs are sexy!!

It sure was, and to generate intrest in his drift event, he drifted our auto-x course...mostly. Again with the senior club members being not impressed.

The BLUE TII did run, and he did very well for his first time on the hill. ScrapFC won CSP, also on his first time on the hill. 1100 feet of elevation in 2.2 miles, approx 11% grade through most of it. The weather was nice, mid 90's when it's usually 105+ in Hoopa that time of year. when i get pics, i'll definatly post em.

i will probably be drifting a bit(not by choice), even with the 285's in the back i still find it hard to keep traction around tight turns running street tires.

I am moving to Arcata with my SO in a week or three. Would be good to have a few other rotorheads to hang out with. I get the feeling I'm going to be a little out of my element in Arcata, being A) a non-hippy, B) enjoying using fossil fuels, and C) happy to ride around on a real motorcycle with, like, scary paint and stuff.

I'll PM you or something when we make it up there. We were there on Thurs. and Fri. hunting for apartments, and will probably be up again early this week to lock in a place.

Big diffrence in drifting beacuse you don't have enough traction vs drifting to look cool. BLUE TII has serious traction issues, and we don't give him too much **** about it

espresso: pm or im me when you're in town it'll be cool

Well, it's that time again, Liz you guys are coming, right? Crashspace for you and Tony is assured at my pad, and space can be made for Marcos or any other guests. How did you feel about the possibility of food and beer?
