Any good rotary mechanics in San Diego?
Hey fellas,
Are there any good rotary mechanics in the San Diego area? Or do we have to take the drive up to the LA area to find decent ones? If LA, are there any that you would recommend?
Thanks!

This has been covered on more than one occasion. Not much in San Diego

Just needs a lot of standard maintenance, it's just been garage'd and barely driven for years while I finished college and then paid off college n such lol... Finally lookin to get some much needed work done and want someone trustworthy and truly knowledgeable with 7's to go to...

seth at midnight oil motorsports (off market and 33rd) used to build race rx7s (FDs). i've chatted with him a couple times and getting some fab work done from him soon. certainly an older and very knowledgeable guy. that said, i just had my engine rebuilt and tuned at lucky 7 racing up in duarte...long way to go, multiple times, that's for sure.

Who cares if it has been mentioned 100 times, the more times it is brought up, the more it seems the population is building.
Dicks.
GL on finding a Rotary Mechanic locally to OP.
This will either make you the mechanic, or find one (either way helps locals).

A thread resurrection could have accomplished the same thing. While granted the search function is pretty useless in the West forum, it would have given a foundation in this case.
Should we post a new thread for every question regardless if has been discussed before?

If it is more effective, then why not? Is it that much of a trend where it is annoying? I guess that depends on reader.
I for one have noticed DIY things may be answered already, but with this type of request, I don't think any old threads would be the most up to date or are updated at all. Case by case imo

also for any general racecar prep, 5523 motorsports is awesome. i had a custom oil catch can installed by nick and he is an awesomely meticulous dude. took time to plan it out and perfectly design it with the space i had. (ended up not going with midnight oil...seth). great team up at 5523 in escondido, it's worth the drive. nick rocks. friendly and insanely knowledgeable, albeit a "mostly" nissan guy (sans his gf's FB, he has love for rotaries for sure).
Necroing this thread--are there still no good rotary shops in San Diego? I'm trying to sort out an idle and throttle tip-in issue with my car and don't want to have to go up to Orange County/LA.
I too would like to know as well but I did hear someone by the name of Jim in El Cajon. Can't say much as I've never took my FC to him before when I did have one. Heard mixed reviews about him...
I know a good "garage" mechanic in El Cajon/Santee, mechanical engineer to boot, but No one named Jim. Grew up in El Cajon too....glad I got out lol.
Go to Neptune Speed (aka Garage Rx)in Huntington. A small drive for you but he is very honest and super knowledgeable. Yoshi is an OV rotary guy from Japan. Definitely knows his stuff. My car is there now.

It certainly doesn't look like there's any options down here though that are remotely equivalent.
