A head-on crash on state Highway 9 near Brookdale:

A 19-year-old Scotts Valley man lost control of his 1984 Mazda RX7, which veered across the highway's yellow dividers and slammed head-on into a Ford F250 driven by a 40-year-old Felton man. The teenage driver and his front-seat passenger, a 17-year-old girl, were airlifted to Stanford Medical Center where they remain with serious internal injuries and facial lacerations, the CHP officer said. The 40-year-old Felton man and his passenger, a man in his 50s, were taken to Dominican Hospital for possible injuries, the CHP reported.
The accident occurred around 10:03 a.m. just north of Pike Road.
The CHP officer said mist, fog and wet road conditions might have contributed to the collision. Alcohol or drugs were not factors in the state Highway 9 crash, the CHP reported.
