I am going to take the donations and then write a check to Dave's family.

Dave was one of the nicest guys I have known. Always willing to give a helping hand because of his generous heart. He may have had the worst luck of anyone I have ever known. But he still helped anyone in need, even if he was being kicked down.
Ignore all of his depressed and down moments. He didn't want to die, kill himself, or hurt anyone. He just wanted to be happy. At least he was doing what he loved, driving his FD.
I've talked to his brother and there will be a funeral for him. Possibly Saturday, but nothing is set yet.

He will be missed.
My brother was killed in a head-on collision driving his 1st gen RX-7. Passing a big-rig and ran out of room.
He was 23 and is missed everyday.
Goodbye Aaron.
I just lost another very good friend and fellow rotorhead, Jury Swanson, 3 weeks ago. On this forum, sirjury was his username. Didn't post much but he knew his **** better than 99% of people on this forum. Trained by Jim Mederer. He was my go to guy. I'll be getting his 3-rotor fd back on the road in his memory if things work out with his family.
Goodbye Jury.

I cant relate to all this (thank god) considering im only 20 but i few friends pass away already, one involved in a motorcycle accident died at the scene (23 years old)
Another one friends since 6yrs old he was coming back from fishing (his favorite activity) lost control and a head on SUV hit the door (off duty cop) killed him instantly only (21 years old)
and couple more but don't need to get into those
When My father in law passed away un-expectedly the most comforting thing for us was the outpouring of affection from the community. He was a well known man in Oklahoma City. Not rich or powerful but well known and liked do to his very helpful and friendly nature. It seemed that almost 1000 people showed up to the funeral
Dave was the same way. I only met him at 7 stock but He was perfectly content to hang with me as long as I wanted him to do so.
I think the best thing we could do would be to go to the Funeral. His family will receive a final memory of their loved one as one that was liked and respected by his Peers.
As a Father of four.....God forbid something like this happen to one of mine, but if it did.....I could take comfort in the fact that My son or daughter was respected and successful in whatever path they chose to take in life.
We should all go to the funeral. Those that are local should go. You don't have to do anything or speak to anyone or even cry.....just being there would comfort the grieving family as much as one could.
Fris, Mike, Lil red, you guys find out when this is going to happen and....MAKE IT HAPPEN for Dave.
I'll go, I'll even dress nice.
*Holds back tears*

i was contacted by dave older sister..... so far all i know is the funeral is this saturday in san bernardino... ill post more info for anyone who wants to pay their last respects to him...
.....damn, there aren't enough true rotor heads out there. And even less that are truely good people. We don't need to lose these people. This is a very sad day for all of us.
On a side note, I wish we all had magic buzzers that would make our cars work on days like this so that we could all have a cruise for him. However it takes people like guitarjunkie to get our cars running.
edit: whoops wrote this before I knew there was a cruise

That's horrible news. Though I did not know Dave personally I still had a lot of respect for him as I do other members that actively contribute to this forum. I hope his family and friends can recover from this great loss.
I also hope that aggressive driving had nothing to do with his death and the serious injury of the other driver.

I've been sitting here for half an hour typing garbage. I don't know what to say about something that hasn't totally sunk in. I almost expect Dave to reply to one of my lame posts or give advice to some noob asking about a random problem. It seems like such a shame that those people that come on here to post once or twice and leave after getting their help from Dave will never have gotten to know him. I'm not bashing on those people. It's just such a waste that those people will never have the opportunity to know the guy that helped them.
Dave, keep doing what you do until the rest of us see you in heaven. I'm not sad that you left us. I'm glad that I knew you. If you get a chance, put in a good word with God for me. We miss you, homey.

He always seemed like a good guy in all the posts he made. It is always sad to lose one of the good guys.
I hope wherever he goes, he is surrounded with all things rotary, wether you believe in afterlife or not.
