now we have a name.

fatality happened at 9:50 a.m.

David Segalla, 27, of Cedar Pines was in a Mazda headed south on Highway 18 at about 60 mph near Lower Bonnie Canyon in the Crestline area when he crossed into oncoming traffic and into the path of a 2001 Saturn, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The left front end of the Saturn, driven by Tamara McAdams, 22, of Yucaipa, struck the Mazda's left front end, officials said.

Segalla died at the scene, officials said. McAdams was flown by the sheriff's air rescue helicopter to Loma Linda University Medical Center with serious injuries, officials said. Her condition was not known late Tuesday.

So what has been decided about visiting Ms. McAdams at the hospital? I think that it's a great idea. Just remember that the family might not be real happy to see a bunch of car guys with Tamara laying in a hospital bed. So even if you get a cold reception, just know that you are doing the right thing going to apologize for what happened.

I was thinking the same thing. they might not be real happy with a bunch of car guys. but I still think deep down it would make them feel at least a little better.

Hey Zach

I actually got all the info we needed from the Loma Linda Medical Center.

Loma Linda Medical Center
Care of Tamara McAdams unit #8200
11234 Anderson St
Loma Linda, Ca 92354

It would be great if we could start a thread for donations towards some type of flower arrangement and card. I would be more then willing to take on the task of calling a flower shop and sending her something. I will donate the first 20 bucks from my paypal account and accept donations to chris.moore@sage.com

This is a good cause guys. Maybe next time she see's an Rx7, she wont just think about the accident but about a group of enthusiasts who cared enough to reach out to her.

The more I think about it, the more Im conflicted on a bunch of Rx7 guys showing up to the hospital. She is only 22 and you better believe her parents are going to have strong feelings towards us. I think flowers and a card might just be enough for now. We can play it by ear.

I agree with the flowers and cards idea. Let's do it in writing first, then see if we can show up in person. After all, we're pretty much strangers.

I'll be there for the drive, it's the least we can do for a guy who gave so MUCH.

+1 on the flowers and card idea but I think it would be even MORE powerful if 2 or 3 people showed up at the hospital to give it to her parents. If a big group shows up, it might startle them a bit, 2 or 3 people delivering it on behalf of the RX-7 / RX-8 club might go over better.

Most likely she had car insurance which covers a pretty substantial amount of bills. Im sure she probably has medical insurance either through her job or parents. I dont think what we could donate would even make a dent to be real honest with ya.

If 2 or 3 of you want to go then by all means. Im in Florida so its not possible for me to go

If they have decent insurance, the bills may not be an issue. Even if it's not a large amount, I think they would appreciate the thought. I'm sure they can find a good use for the money. I just really want them to know that Dave was a good guy and that we're reaching out and helping her on his behalf.

I just received another very generous donation from a forum member, thank you very much!

Im not there, so if you west guys want to hand her some money, its entirely up to you. I can keep accepting donations for a day or so and then paypal FC3S91 the total. He can meet up with a couple of you guys and present it to her in the form of a check. What do you all think?

I think we will have to play it by ear. if the total is more then a resonable amount of flowers then yes I think the rest should be handed over in a form of a check. (like you just said.)

I just sent some flowers to her via FTD. It should be there today. Do you know of the info to send some to dave’s funeral?

btw. if you do FTD you need the hospital phone number: 9095584000
