You may have a swapped rx-7 if...

I have had some pretty funny things said to me because I have a V-8 in my import. Share some stories or experiences and lets sit back and enjoy.

I got asked if this was a legit massage speed in.

If your biggest critics/haters are other RX7 owners...

You don't worry about the engine not wanting to start.

You cannot get your parts at a part store, because the guy behind the counter doesn't understand that he can't "enter the vehicle in the computer".

You remember what torque feels like. Also the parts thing, they just let me rummage around now.

...you want torque, reliability, more MPG, USABLE torque, simplicity, easy to get parts for, endless aftermarket support, easy to make power, being unique.

This is for the LS swap.

While I still love the rotary to death, I'm not a typical rotard like 75% of this forum where they would ignore the facts I stated above because they still have, "you ruined the rx name with your v8 swap" mentality. Its childish and stupid.

You are always going to purists. Some are just more ruthless, er, close-minded than others. There's also the implied perception that swapping to a non-rotary bears against the rotary platform in general.

1. 300hp na is not only possible, but expected!
2. You almost wipe out the first time you do a pull because you can't comprehend how much faster it accelerates.
3. People seem to think you possess some type of special car knowledge because of your ability to cram a v8 in such a small car.
4. You switch your argument from HP/liter to hp/lbs
5. 1st gear is useless!, 2nd gear is the new 1st.
6. You know the argument about V8 swaps ruining (or even changing at all) the handling is completely unfounded.

QFT

you know you have a swapped seven every time you do a u-turn and realise that you are running out of room so you blip the throttle a little bit and it sends the car around into perfect position. First time was a little scary but it is more managable now.

You get 27+ mpg in 6th gear cruising at 75 mph at 2000 rpm.

I was eating at Hardee's for lunch when there was an orange Plymouth Laser fly by and a patron said to his co worker " did you know there is one of those with a supercharged v8 running around here" then I heard there conversation of how fast it would be and blah blah blah. They may have got the car wrong and induction wrong but you know you got a v8 seven when your car is a rock star lol

running at a drag strip, someone comes up in the pit and asks 'is that thing electric?' (my car)

When you roll up beside a car at an intersection, the driver looks around and checks mirrors, looking for a muscle car, obviously wondering where the sound is coming from... then they look over, confused.(different car)

you begin looking at other cars based only on swap potential, engine bay space and weight. then realize in many cases you already have it beat.

When diagnosing suspension and steering problems, every shop turns it down. Still searching for alignment place that won't say "not even with a 10' pole"
