Value of a LS1 FD?

Guys I may be purchasing a 94 6 Speed LS1 FD. It is a base model. It has a clean carfax and about 120k miles on the body and 10k miles on the conversion.

Interior and exterior are in nice shape and it has an electromotive ecu (if I remember the name right), 18" wheels, koni shocks, all new autometer gauges in stock gauge bezel, a double din radio and pretty clean overall.

What would you say this car is worth if all is sound?

What are some of the recently sold prices of these LS1 FDs?

I know that a lot of people don't prefer the LS1 conversion, but that is not what I'm asking. Looking for your help on value.
This will be my 3d FD if it goes through, but the last one was 7 years ago

What swap kit does it come with (samberg/hinson)? Why did the previous owner not use the stock gauges?

What radiator kit is on the car? Exhaust? Differential? What transmission is on the car, auto/manual? If manual what car is it off of? Just a basic transplant FD is anywhere from $10k-13k, depending on what price you get your parts for.

If you get samberg parts, GTO T56, 8.8 rear, long tubes, etc. You will be looking at 15-17k +.

anywhere from $10k-$30k depending on parts, how it was built, how much power it makes, etc.

That 30k number is a familiar number.

You just need to inform yourself. An appraiser can't help you. Best thing you can do is see what people are actually selling these for.

Based off what a clean FD costs, what labor is involved, cost of parts...
In the past month 2 clean FD's sold with LS swaps.
1 with an LS2 for $25k and 1 with an LS3 for $26k
These were sorted and very clean cars with high end wheels/suspensions.

Take into account an LS1 will go for considerably less. Mileage still plays a part. Both on chassis and on swap components.

Other things to consider are if the entire driveline was swapped. Cars still with stock rear ends are likely to break those unmodified components.
Also what will it cost you to finish it right and do that rear end?

If you don't know how to value a car or inform yourself based on all these factors then I would stick to buying a more factory car where Kelly Blue book can be a resource.

look through the car for sale threads on norotors.com

theres tonnnns of them for sale, or ones that sold and you can find easy comparisons to the one youre looking at.

13-15k you can get a decent swapped one that will need a little work.

for 20k+ it needs to be really clean with no issues. usually these have new paint+interiors as well.

Is this for sale online? If so can you post the link? There are many variables with any car and it helps to see the total package. What are your goals/usage? The price of a car can be greatly different to each person.

For example I do not track my car so if it had a roll cage it actually takes away from the value of it.

Obviously for those who track their cars then a cage might be more important than an immaculate interior.

I would check the classified sections of the "other" forum, you'll get a good idea of what price the cars will sell for

Got mine this New Years. 67k on the chassis and LS1 (which was rebuilt and installed last year with a rebuilt t56) about 1500m on the Samberg/Hinson hybrid swap. It needed some work, but nothing crazy. Original paint, def needs a respray someday. I got it for $15k. To me it was worth it.

Like the guys have posted here. You have to judge for yourself. Take anything it may need for work into consideration. What's it worth to you? Good luck and enjoy if you buy!!

A car that needs nothing and is in great condition with premium parts IE LS2+, full samberg parts, cobra diff, premium wheels, full suspension and mint ext and int is usually 26-30k.

A running v8 swap will usually see a low of 13k. Lower if it's in bad shape. The average is around 18k.

Purely estimations here but the KBB just does not apply.

I recently bought mine for 16k. It's very tough to estimate the value on these.

I remember my ex-b/f wanted a V8 Rx-7 couple of years ago, it was pretty expensive. Are they still in demand?

Most of the ones going for under $15k need a little work like A/C. Most FD ls swaps go somewhere between $16k to $22k. Exceptional examples fetch up to $30k.

Just paid mid 20k for my turn key w/AC, PS and flawless interior. I've seen acceptable starters starting in the 13k range. A decent rule of thumb would be a very clean 100k mi RX7 is worth 14-16k, add 8-10k for a quality swap and that will give you an idea of what the car your looking at is actually worth. Pictures and even a walk around video would be very helpful if you can get your hands on some and post.

What it's worth comes down to what the guy is willing to sell it for, and what you're willing to pay for it. A lot of swaps don't have AC or power steering. Decide what you want the car to be. Then find something that's close to what you want, meaning less work for you.

big difference depending on the quality of the swap and the parts installed, low end seems to be 13-15k..

If you got a stock ls1 in an Fd without the extra mods I'm estimating a 13-17k. Ls1/ls2/ls6 with intake, heads, clean interior clean exterior a solid 20-23k. The 25-30k are te ones that have everything done to it. All brand new bushings in the suspension, brand new engine/low miles, ac, basically the works.
