You have got to be shitting me... Use the search feature or maybe look around anywhere on the internet... It's been debated, done, failed, passed, and everything in between... EVERYTHING has been done... You just have to search for the information... And this particular question has been asked MANY times... I bet there's at least 25 threads in this section with this EXACT title...

Don't even think about it!
A V8 in an RX-7??? What a ridiculous idea! A big engine like that would never fit. And even if it did, that massive engine would screw up the weight and balance of this wonderful car, and completely destroy the handling. And of course it would be uncontrollable with all that torque.
If you can't afford to rebuild the rotary, you should install a Briggs& Stratton.

And by the way, a Mopar big block really would start to add some weight, though it has been done. Maybe OK if you are building a drag car, but I will beat you through the corners.
And for andrewdruiz, everyone who hears the rumble of my Ford 5.0 seems to think it has plenty of soul! I have said here before, it is not beating some ricer at a stoplight - it is the symphony of car alarms every time I drive into a parking garage! My personal best is 5 car alarms going at once!

sarcasm is hard to do on the internet
who did the mopar bigblock? i know of one attempt that was i assume aborted. havent seen anything done since then. of course youd beat me through the corners, youve got a 600lb advantage on me. it shouldnt add too much weight to the front, alot of the stuff in the front of my car is stripped out anyway (heater, ac, tar, etc etc) its not going to be enough to make that much of a difference.

I know I saw at least one mopar conversion on Grannies web site, thought it was a big motor, but I don't know which MOPARs are the big ones. Is a 340 a "small block"? I guess we all need at least one subject on which we are completely ignorant. I have several, and MOPAR is on my list!
Drove mine home in the rain today - tends to focus the mind, because it turns into a frisbee if you aren't careful.

the mopar small blocks are 318, 340 and 360
big blocks are 361 (pretty uncommon) 383, 400, 413, 426 and 440 b low deck blocks are the 361, 383 and 400, just have a shorter stroke the last three are th RB block (raised block) and have a longer stroke
granny sells a small block kit, the small blocks are identical size wise, just the 360 has a different engine mount on the drivers side i think is what it is. nothing an adapter cant fix.
