Rx7 V8 Swap in Dallas area

I was just woundering if anybody knew sombody that could do it in the dallas metroplex area.

I just bought a rx7 and the motor just died and i was wondering if it would be better to rebuild the engine or just swap to a LS1.

I would love to swap to a LS1 but i dont want my car half way across the country
with sombody i have never met.

How much will a LS1 swap cost, i have read any where between 6k and 15k

So if sombody can help me out it would be highly Appreciated.

Thanks Later Days

I heard at one time Gotham was willing to do the swap. Dont expect it to be in and out of the shop within a few weeks... or even months.

Call Gotham and talk with Alex or Steve. I know they had one in the shop not too long ago.

If you go with Hinson stuff it takes months just to get the parts (5-6 months), trust me, I know all too well.

mine took longer than that. you have a better chance of getting a jimlab kit.

As far as I know, Jimlab doesn't have a V8 "kit." I understand that he will make a few subframes.

You'd be miles ahead to ask this question in the forum related to this swap. They can provide you with links and information that will help you with your decision. Hinson is the name I've heard the most as far as providing the parts for the conversion as well as being able to preform the work.
Here is a link to get you started.

HinsonSupercars takes in reality 2-3 months for the basic engine mounting kit (Kmember/torque arm (PPF)/bump steer correction kit/alum driveshaft/trans mount).

Sometimes their cooling system and fuel system can take longer to get; however if you are resourceful you can find them for cheaper and literally within a few days.

Visit the V8RX7 forum on torquecentral.com and search for a few hours about your questions before posting ones that have been addressed 5 million times. It is a good group.

Take the plunge... it was worth it for me. 440rwhp on 91 octane (stock shortblock with ported heads/big cam/headers), low 20mpg on the highway, 11.40's@127.4mph, n/a reliability and easy to find parts.... plus 6 speed!

Good luck! Think like an engineer... not a flock of sheep.
