Question on a potential swap

Over the summer I bought myself an '87 RX7 TII with an Lt1 swap. Unfortunately I got in a nasty wreck in the car. Long story short is that the body has had it but the drive train should be just fine. I have been considering trying to find a cheap, straight RX7 with a blown engine or something and swap the engine over. Unfortunately I really do not know these cars too well, so are all the years and models pretty much the same or do they vary in design somewhat. In other words could I rip out all the stuff of the 87 and drop it in an 88 or whatever, or does every year require different parts to complete a swap? Hopefully the question make sense.

The chassis themselves for a second gen are pretty much the same. The differences lie in the running gear. IE engine and diff. Everything should swap over just fine so long as you stick to the same generation. Even the verts are pretty much the same from the bottom looking up.
