To lighten the mood...

I'm thinking about going GM power myself with a 2006 6.0L. If the thermostat doesn't fail it'll never overheat with an effectively limitless supply of cool water.

Hp is down a bit, only 360hp.

I'm also going to have a back up 15hp Honda for slow cruising.

See pic.

Long time V8 forum viewer, first time poster.

There are many quotes in here that'd I'd like to reply to, but I have neither the time nor the inclination to waste my energy. So I'll just pick out a couple that really irked me:

No, as Jim and Drew already pointed out. They're just the more vocal ones.

Sweet. So let's get everyone riled up, and then attempt to sweep it under the rug like it never happened. That is NOT the proper way to handle this situation. If you seriously think that will solve anything, then you are completely out of your gord and need to have your mod privileges revoked...

You're absolutely right. Go read the original thread, and see where he brought up money, not myself. I'm perfectly content with my financial situation vs. my age, and while I'm sure anyone here would be happy to win the lottery, jealousy did not prompt those comments. I don't care if they want to flaunt it, or keep it quiet, I responded to a comment, I didn't initiate it.

You get out of that even the slightest and it gets exponentially more difficult.
I don't know if that's meant for me, but I'm using a kit BASED on Grant's old stuff, that I reworked to fit an LS1, with an LS1 and 4L60e that I rebuilt completely in it. The only off the shelf components in my entire swap are the LS1->SBC adapter plates. I built/rebuilt everything on the vehicle, unibody up, excluding the exhaust and driveshaft, as I do not have the proper equipment for them (or did not at the time).

I would venture a guess less than 5% of this board can weld properly. I would guess even further that less than 2% could weld aluminum. To take it one step farther I would say less than .5% can properly weld cast aluminum (WHIHC IS MUCH tougher than billet believe me) and that same .5% or less probably has access to the tooling required to do the rest of a swap like this.
I agree, and I had not intended to mislead people. I do believe though, that if you have a good sized base of "car guy" friends, or a join a local car club, that people that DO have the ability to do those types of things are typically happy to help out, for cheap/free, especially on interesting projects such as these. That's how it is around here, and you're right, I made an ASSumption that most people would have access to people with those abilities anywhere, I may very well be wrong.

I do have an admitted advantage that I have family and good friends who are in the 1% in their experience and abilities, but that doesn't make it beyond the capability of an interested party to learn how to do these things. I've spent nearly 3 years working on my project, and learned more then I ever imagined doing it. When I started this project, it was WAY over my head, now I can complete (and have) a "basic" LS1 swap in 2 days time with a couple experienced friends.

My comments in that thread were in no way directed toward Jim or Drew, regardless of what he and Drew think. The comments on TC that Drew referred to were more related to the attitude of other people in regard to Jim's project then his own attitude. I stand behind my community innovation/contribution comments, as at the time of the writing (and as of this time to the best of my knowledge) the components Jim has created for LT1/LS1 swaps are not available to the general public. I think they are excellent pieces, and would be using them on a friend's LS1/FD if they were available at the time. I understand that he is doing his swap in a "best of everything" manner, and I see the logic in his choices, that doesn't mean I have to agree with them, nor does it make my ideas less correct.

If you read my past comments about Jim's project, you'll be hard pressed to find me degrading any part of it, and you'll find none of the "is it done yet" stated in anything but complete jest. For the record the only problem I've ever had with Jim is that he tends to go beyond the necessary level in tearing people down, I also stated that in the other thread. 98% of the time I think he's quite funny and the beleagured party deserving.

Edited for my dumb *** forgetting an end quote.

Ok?

I have been in the hospital for a week, wake up all yucky and such. Decide to get online and catch up with my current events. Then I decide to check on the beloved oh-so-friendly RX-7 community.

That’s when I stepped on the shitbag, in which, some squirted up and got me in the cheek.

I am not sure if everyone realizes how this sub-forum is viewed. This section has more against it than the staff of the www.rx7club.com would like to put effort into keeping it open. Yet, people just won't do things to keep the pressure away. Every sub-forum of this site has its own issues, but this one is under magnification - looking for any reason what-so-ever to click the "delete" link.

In my opinion, everyone in this thread is wrong.

Specifically, I am not speaking about one item or action, but in general. Some things some people have said shouldn't have been, some things should have, some just not in this thread but yet through appropriate administrative channels. In the end, I blame all of you (yes, some more than others). Yet, everyone who participated in this thread had a chance to nuke it and prevent it from getting to this point. Some may have tried, and I thank those. Yet, I am here now having to "deal" with it.

At this point, this immediate fighting shall stop. There will be more actions taken behind the scene to resolve this conflict. But, adhere to what I just said. There are no more official warnings at this point, just that easy to understand statement. Failure to comply will result in an immediate ban from the entire site.

Thanks,
Mike
