I'm a bastard

Thanks to Digital Solo, Im heavily pondering a LS1 or LT1 swap. I was wondering how much of the grannies kit or Hinson's kit do you all use? Do the smaller single piston brakes on the FC do the job in a mildly modified SBC?

I was thinking for my FC (in a perfect world of course):
LS1 or LT1 (whichever one I find for the best price first)
T56
LS6 Clutch
Hinsons Kit for mounting
Hinsons Driveshaft
Do the wiring myself
Getting ahold of granny headers and getting a custom exhaust to my CS single outlet exhaust
Custom Intake
3.90 Convertable Rear End

Anything else I'm forgetting? I'de love to go with grannies for everything, but I just don't stop hearing bad things about them. What do you all think?

Also, what to do about the clutch setup? Sorry this is oh so dumb sounding, I when I search I just get people saying how good the swap is, not the actual information, budget will be around 4k.

Thanks bastards, I was taking a rough guesstimate, a local dude has a LT1-T56 package for 1,800, with all the nesscessary ECU and harness stuff.

Grant's kit, LT1, Grant's headers, T56, and a Turbo II rear end (don't bother with the 3.90 Auto rear, with a T-56 4.10s are okay).

The N/A brakes are okay, but I'd get the 4 pistons personally.

If you take your time and shop smart, 4000 isn't TOOO far out. Maybe 4500-5000.

I purchased all of my swap parts from Granny's, never a problem. Quick shipping, the parts were on my doorstep within three days. Grant has always been willing to help with any questions or issues I've had.

Good luck with your swap!

if you plan to go lt1 i am not sure if the ls6 clutch will work

i am not sure if this works for the lt1, but if you get the hinson mounts and the ls1 engine with a t56 just get an aluminum c4 corvette drive shaft. save yourself some money right there

as has already been said, if you want a t56 then forget the 3.90 and get a tii 4.10

i assume the grannies headers are for lt1/sbc and not for ls1. some people save some money by getting a set of jeep transplant shorty headers that seem to work pretty well with the lt1

come on over to torquecentral.com and start doing some reading
