Hookin' a Ford Tranny to FC Speedo?
Hookin' a Ford Tranny to FC Speedo?
just curious if anyone knows a way to do this, dont they run on different "timing" or whatever the true name for it is? is there a company that sells a converter for this or does anyone know a way around it without switching to a different gauge?
RPM revs and Granny
I just swapped in a T5Z, the one with a .63 overdrive. I have a 4.10 rear and my revs at 60 are just above 2000. Granny's can be difficult. I ordered the adapter from him, I waited at least 2 weeks and no adapter. Called him back, he gave the run-around and said he didn't have a record of me ordering it. He said he would ship it out right away. Waited 2 or 3 more weeks and no adapter. Called him back again, again the run-around. After about a month and 1/2 from my original order, I finally got it. Everything he sells is COD also, and it was shipped USPS. He might not be the best to deal with all the time but, the adapter worked just like it should and has been working for over 2 years. Good luck.

All mechanical speedometers in US cars expect to see 1000 cable revolutions per mile. You'll need either:
Tailshaft ring and cable gear for a 4.10 gear plus a Mazda cable to Ford tranny adapter
or
Mechanical converter box that matches the Mazda cable to the Ford tranny that allows you to change out the internal gears of the box to suit your gear ratio.
