Parts!

Jet-Hot 2000* coated hot side. It's not actually as blue as the flash makes it look, it's a lot darker and more subtle.

Got fuel?

If you look closely here, you can see the EGT probe in the manifold.

Fuel feed (with gauge) through rails to regulator to return. The big bit on the regulator is the sender for my in cabin fuel pressure gauge.

Still have a lot to do, but it's getting closer... :)

Very nice. I know this may be a dumb question, but shouldn't the Air filter be moved out of the path of the hot air through the Rad/Intercooler?

Your car is one of the nicest v8 FC's on the board.

20Bforme 12-31-08 05:36 PM

its threads like this that make me want to change my mind... (engine wise)

Thanks!

Optimally, the filter would be located outside of the engine bay; unfortunately packaging for that would be really, really ugly, and the amount of restriction induced by the bends/pipe sizing required would probably negate most of the benefit anyway.

That said, between the FMIC and Alky injection, I don't think intake temps should be too much trouble. :)

Hey man looks GREAT. How much goes JET HOT charge? I am thinking about doing this to my DP, turbine housing and mani.

RRTEC 12-31-08 08:12 PM

For some reason I really really really really like this build. This is legitimately the first V8 conversion I haven't ignored. Congrats man (your old car had me captivated too)

DAveFC3sNA 12-31-08 08:58 PM

i like this car Alot, but Whyyyy the Blueeeeeee lol jk, if blues cool with you its all good, i would prefer black couplers more sleeker look to it

I have about 800 dollars (including shipping in the Jet-Hot).

RRTEC, I see you also have an E36. I have a 328i Cabrio that's my daily. Nice cars, I like them a lot. :)

I've put a lot of effort into trying to address all aspects of the car, without going overboard anywhere (except maybe power...), so I'm glad to hear that some of the rotary stalwarts appreciate it. :)

Holy shit! I imagine shipping was about 150 or so? I will have to get a qoute from them. I am really trying to focus on reducing engine bay temps..actually temps in general associated with the engine.

digitalsolo 01-01-09 09:31 PM

Shipping was about 100 dollars round trip; The work on the pipes was ~700 (200 for the manifolds, 200 for the turbine and 300 for the remaining pipes).

I'd think on a rotary, you'd only be at 200 (turbine) + 150 (manifold) + 150 (downpipe), so not quite as painful. :)

love it...i think this build epitamises my goal for my FC

digitalsolo 01-05-09 11:15 PM

Fuel system mocked up:

Here you can see the bracket for the pump. It's pretty sturdy, plenty enough to hold the A1000 in place.

This picture is a little misleading because of the angle. There is no sharp bend in that hose at all, it's just the perspective.

You sir, are a mad man. Hats off to you.

blackedoutFC3S 01-15-09 09:43 PM

Geez man you know how to make a strong build props bro!

Havoc 01-16-09 03:22 AM

Awesome just awesome :D

Skidtron 04-15-09 07:20 PM

There isn't any beads rolled on the intercooler piping? That s sucks but everything else is fine so far. Im not big on putting diferent motors from different manufacturers either but its well done and the car looks great. Good job! get some beads on those pipes so they stay on.

digitalsolo 04-15-09 09:16 PM

12-15 lbs of boost. I'm pretty sure my layout + aquanet will keep the pipes together fine, but if I run into any issues I'll bead them. :)

Thanks for the compliments.

RRTEC 04-20-09 09:31 PM

We need a video of it out running around...... :)

Should have some pretty soon, maybe this weekend. Tune is CLOSE. WOT is running great, though I get a rich backfire on shifts currently. 9 psi is fun though. :D

digitalsolo 05-23-09 08:32 PM

Bling, bling.

Engine bay with new red wrinkle finish, Jaz catchcan/overflow for coolant, -10 crossover between the valve covers, -12 feed to Moroso breather tank, as well as a wire tuck and the lines/nozzle for the methanol.
