pretty pimp.. but all the money you invested, and settled for sportmaxx wheels? they are heavy and not to mention dime a dozen
rest of the car is dope though.. just stuck on the wheels. sportmaxx is like the generic brand cereal at a supermarket. I don't care if the wheels weigh 3-4 lbs more per corner. If I really want maximum performance I'll pick up some Weld drag wheels for the track. There is one other car I see occasionally in town with these wheels, in my city of ~275,000 people, so I'm pretty okay with the commonality. The other wheels I looked at were 5zigen FN01RCs, which are on every car I see. I like the look of them, and, judging by the multiple compliments I've gotten on them everywhere I go, others do as well. I think they suit the car. As far as being generic, I honestly don't care in the slightest. I put on my shoes I bought at Wal-mart and drive my BMW to work every day. ;) |
A few people asked about larger resolution images for backgrounds, etc.

Nice car man, I love the way it looks, just the way I like em. The wheels are slick, I have them in gunmetal and love them.
I usually don't like the V8 swaps but this is pretty sick. :icon_tup: |
I like the that front bumper, and I dislike most bodykits.

looks great.

Making some progress on my turbo setup...
Hotside: I know the wastegate piping angles are subobtimal, but the pipe is angled in, so the 2" pipe has a ~4" opening which should help maximize the flow to it with the poor angle of attack. Yes, it dumps to atmosphere (the wastegate). Yes, that will be loud under boost. No, I don't care even a little bit. ;) http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/turbo/bothsides_2.jpg http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/turbo/bothsides_1.jpg http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/turbo/bothsides_5.jpg http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/turbo/bothsides_6.jpg The frame notch: I've had a few people ask about this. It's tiny, 1" x 3" by 1/3" deep. I haven't filled it yet. It's right at the base of the manifold (near the center of the image). http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/turbo/bothsides_7.jpg Cold side: The big ass hole on the passenger side was there when I got the car. The small, proper hole I did. The big hole will be filled in and both will be finished nicely when I clean up the engine bay. Coldside pipes will be black wrinkle finish coated. http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/turbo/bothsides_3.jpg http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/turbo/bothsides_4.jpg http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/turbo/bothsides_8.jpg |

|
Really like the body kit on that, save for the rear end mold. Nice ride.

Rear end mold? The rear section is a bolt on to the stock bumper, nothing on it is molded at all (molded = cracks). If you mean the big flare and design on the rear, it's not my favorite either, but the design keeps the tires inside of the bumpers so that the rear 1/4s don't get torn up (my drag tires throw a LOT of rocks). :) |
So did you put the Left side headers on the right side to reverse thier dump direction? Trying to visualize how you brought the exhaust to the front.

The driver's side manifold is a passenger's side manifold from a 2001 Camaro, and the passenger's side manifold is a driver's side manifold from a 2002 Chevy Silverado 6.0L. The manifolds are just flipped backwards, as the ports are symmetrical on the LS1. :) |
Exhaust is complete, air intake complete. Turbo oil feed and drain complete, cooling system mockup is complete (minus heater hoses, but they match the radiator hoses. The oil drain was a SOB to snake through the Granny's kit. Definitely not enjoyable. ;)

Awesome job man, looks to be a true beast in the near future. What are you looking to make on the dyno? 1/4 mile time?
Keep it up. |
Conservatively speaking, I'd like to see a 10.8-10.9 range 1/4 mile and ~575-600 RWHP on the dyno, pump gas + 100% methanol injection.
|
Beast! Can't wait to see it done.
|
WOW!!!! I pity the person who revs up at you at the next stop light!! That is crazy!!

In tank fuel system:
http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/turbo/fuel/fuel_3.JPG http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/turbo/fuel/fuel_2.JPG http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/turbo/fuel/fuel_1.JPG http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/turbo/fuel/fuel_4.JPG It's dual walbro 255 lph (with check valves) into 3/8 fuel line into aeromotive y-block into -8 AN which then upsizes to my -10 main fuel lines after the bulkhead. I haven't finished the wiring for the second pump (activated at 4 psi of boost with a hobbs switch). |
Shit I need to pay attention, had no idea you were going to boost that ol' bitch.
Looks good man, that thing is going to snap necks - keep it up :bigthumb: |

Cold side pipes are back from powdercoating. They look dramatically better now.
JGS BOV is all pretty and installed now too, though I can't final it yet as my o-ring is hiding somewhere in my parts collection. http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/turbo.../icpipes_3.JPG http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/turbo.../icpipes_2.JPG http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/turbo.../icpipes_1.JPG |
Damn, this thing is gonna be raw.
|
Well, I'm getting rid of the fuel system pictured above.
Going with a sumped tank and an Aeromotive A1000. Less complicated, and more headroom available. :) |
