A few pictures of my new TII...
Just got the car (mostly) running yesterday... hopefully I'll get the details sorted out and shoot some better pictures soon. :)

very nice my friend....how did you find a beauty like this??
list any mods and exterior peices please  |
wow that is quite the nice rx7!
|
damn that shit is clean! how much did you get it for?
|
Sweet.. Is that a fuel cut of on the rear?? Was it a drag car?
|
The body kit is AIT Racing (I believe), the suspension is KYB Adjustables with Eibach Prokit springs, and the wheels are TSW EVOs redone in bronze. It also has DTSS eliminators and poly bushings throughout, as well as drilled/slotted rotors and Hawk HPS pads.
The switch is an external electrical cutoff for the engine and fuel. It has a 10.00 legal cage and battery protection inside as well. The tires on the back are 275/40/17 Nitto DRs. :) JohnRXT2 built the car originally, he is responsible for the cage and bodywork/paint. He had it a fully gutted drag car, I put the basics back in it (heat/blower motor, wipers, and the interior carpet and plastics). I still have a lot to do, but it's getting there. |
I usually hate body kits, but that looks NICE! whats done to the engine? its not he v8 in your sig is it?

Don't worry yourself with silly things like engines. It's a pretty RX7, the details aren't important. ;) |

I'm not typically a big body kit guy either, but this one does flow with the body lines pretty well. I'm going to do a few little tweaks here and there still, and get the panel gap dead on, but it really does look good now. It is a touch lower than I'd like though. :)

Slightly out of date picture of the drivetrain when it was in my old chassis. :)
This picture is missing my headers, heads, 4" intake (that's a 3.5"), new PCV setup, and, judging by the dipstick, it still had an automatic in it (has a built 6 speed now). The appearance of the engine/nitrous setup is essentially unchanged though. http://www.ls1fc.com/main/blakedrew/bd8.jpg |
Beautiful car. Everything fits very well together. Congrats.
|
What happened to the old chassis?

I was bored with the old one, and thought "hey, why not get a new chassis, and start all over on the stupid problems list..." Working out so far. ;) |

That's a goofy looking wankel.....................
|
This car has to be insane. Direct port nitrous.... Rediculous...... And I really want to see a high speed video now.
|
It goes pretty good, I've not had it about 150 mph yet though.
She's somewhere around 625 wheel HP on spray, ~400 wheel off. |
Its a very nice and clean 7.
|
Thanks for all the compliments guys. :)
|
Dang, what does the TII tranny think about your 600hp on nitrous? I'd imagine the torque is making it mad. Be careful with that beast, look great.
|
^ Where do you find your rare 6 speed tII trans with conversion bellhousing for a v8??
OP, Nice car, it's good to see a built v8 in a 7 insted of a stock swap. |
crazy cool! at least the v8 found it's way into something nice looking as opposed to a geo metro.
Very clean car. |
The transmission is a T56 from a 2002 Camaro; I rebuilt it with Viper shift forks, bronze shift pads and upgraded keys and synchros. My first transmission build; so far it's still alive with 2k miles, the build should be good for ~750-800 wheel HP in a chassis under 3k lbs. :)
|
Great job man! Very nice to see a tastefully modded V8. I am digging the S4 bodykit, the front amber turn signals make it look awesome. Congrats on the steal. ;)
|
Thanks again guys-
I finally got it running well yesterday. Had to put a pinion snubber in, as my stock diff mount was allowing enough movement to bind the driveshaft (yay torque!). She's running well now; I've got a few bits and pieces coming in the mail (new seatbelt, a few dash plastics and the door/fender S4 trim) that I need to install, than I'll have a friend who is a much better photog than me get some nice pictures up. :) |
Nice car Blake. You tapped into your water pump? where does the other end go? or am i mistaken?
I <3 Bronze Rims! |

I <3 Bronze Rims! The water pump line goes to the steam vent. :) |
Well, aside from changing out the nitrous system to a new setup, the car is nearly done.
I'm going to snag a competition diff mount and poly rear mounts, as even with my snubber the diff moves a little more then I'd like. I also think I'm going to yank the depowered power rack and go to a manual rack. I just don't care for the feel of the current unit I have. Beyond that, I've got the interior put together, minus one triangular demister grill and my rollbar padding, both of which are on order. I need to clean up the wiring under the dash just a bit, as well as finish looming up the engine bay wiring, and it should be good to go. |
It's pretty well sorted now, though I'm tearing it back apart this winter to put a turbo on it. Never content I suppose... ;)
I picked up a new set of wheels that I think suit the car much better: http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/wheels/wheels1_01.jpg http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/wheels/wheels1_03.jpg http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/wheels/wheels1_05.jpg http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/wheels/wheels1_07.jpg http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/wheels/wheels1_08.jpg http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/wheels/wheels1_09.jpg http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/wheels/wheels1_11.jpg |
Thats a healthy stance. Looks bad ass!
|

Mine were 17x8 +35 front and 17x9 +35 rear, and didn't have any spacers. The new wheels sit at 17x7 +35 front and 17x9 +35 rear. :) |
A few people requested some other angles on the wheels. Here they are:

nice FC and now for some interior pics?
|
Sure, I'll snap a few tonight.
|
And a few pictures:
Engine Bay: http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/interior/engine1.JPG Interior (forgive the purple tint in the hatch, I haven't gotten around to replacing it yet): Monitoring tools (HP Tuners + LM1) http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/interior/interior_1.JPG 1995 300ZX TT seats http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/interior/interior_2.JPG Nitrous/Power Control http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/interior/interior_3.JPG Gauges (ProSport Fuel Pressure and Wideband on A Pillar + Raptor Shift light) http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/interior/interior_4.JPG Closeup of main gauges and warning/indicator lights http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/interior/interior_5.JPG Center console w/ stereo, Passport 8500 X50 + remote for Passport http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/interior/interior_6.JPG Rear of cage (and nasty purple tint) http://www.ls1fc.com/main/1988/interior/interior_7.JPG |
What size are your new wheels? Did you use spacers?
|
The wheels are 17x9 +35 ET rear and 17x7 +40 ET front. The front's have a 5mm spacer on them.
|
You've got one sick 7 bud. I really like your gauge cluster too. :icon_tup:

A friend of mine is a good photog, so he shot a few pictures in better surroundings...

And a few with my car and said photog (Azar)'s 10AE.

This has to be my favorite. Makes me wanna paint my Tll black. |
super clean....I just wish it was a rotary under there....makes me kinda sad.
but the car does look bad ass...no doubt about it. |
The 10AE is LS1/T56 as well. ;)
|
Are you still running the same size tires?
|
Yup. Same size.
|
pretty pimp.. but all the money you invested, and settled for sportmaxx wheels? they are heavy and not to mention dime a dozen
rest of the car is dope though.. just stuck on the wheels. sportmaxx is like the generic brand cereal at a supermarket. |
the wheels STILL look good though and that is all that matters. I could give a fuck at times what other tuners have to say. Early stages I was impressionable by others opinions but now..pshh.
Car looks good man! |
