Dont hurt me, but I have some swap questions

so I really want a fc, I love the way the car looks and what can be done with it.....But I want a piston motor....(waiting for the rotore to be thrown at my head) so I'm a big muscle car fan, so I figured why not mate my two passions togethor for a v8 powered fc. so my questions are:

what would be the best engine to swap out?

how hard is it to swap a motor in the fc?

will this affect the handling?

are you going to kill me for doing it?

and what i everything that has to be done for a complete swap?

there's tons of swapped v8 7's, if you look around most of your questions would be answered.

hahah we wont kill you maybe just hurt you.. haha its been done many times with corvette engines. Hit up a few of the forum members that have it like R.O.D said and they might help you with it. I cant and never will be able to help anyone on this matter cuz it destroys what the rx-7 really is... a rotary experiment. good luck

You just have to remember, when you first get on it you will shift at 4k and go WTF!!! There's no torque OMG!!!

Just wait until you hit redline and keep it in the powerband when your having fun and you won't know the difference.

That, and no-one compares rotary's to V8s, more like V6s, so keep that in mind as well.

And a TURBO rotary with a freeflowing exhaust and at least 10psi is a whole different beast. Well I find them all pretty fun, but damn I love some freaking turbos.

There is also this on the forum but the links itsfun posted are probably the best sources for info on the swap.

To at least get you started:
-Chevy LS1's seem to have the best combo of great power, excellent fitment, and light weight (aluminum block).

-Not hard. Jus t about anyone can do it themselves if they've got some tools and decent attention to detail. Jump on v8rx7forum.com and start reading build threads that look interesting.

-Handling doesn't change noticable. A v8 swap only adds about 60-80 lbs (apples to apples numbers are hard to come by because most upgrade their rear end equipment/brakes) at the same time. I did a battery relocation and an aluminum hood and I'm still at a dead nuts 50-50 weight ratio. If you really want to get into it you can start talking about polar moment of inertias... However, if you don't know what that means then you definitely won't be able to tell the difference.

-You'll have to put up with some ribbing from the rotary faithful, yes. However I put down 462 rwhp in a car I drive almost every day. You'll get over it. Interestingly the Corvette guys think I'm bad ***.

-I put together a top-to-bottom build thread for folks like you.
