I knew my FC was slow, but EWWWWW!!!

I went to the track last night, ambient temps were about 85* and it was humid (miserable for waiting in the staging lanes). My first run was against a '68 Mustang that ran low 14's-high 13's... I was hoping the track officials would have put me with something more in my league. Anyway, that run SUCKED!!!

RT-0.8625
60ft-2.7090
330ft-7.4467
1/8 ET-11.3033
1/8mph-64.45
1/4 ET-17.3075
1/4mph-80.73

^I won that race because the Mustang red lit

My second run was a little better against an '04 Hyundai Tiburon GT V6, but I was snoozing at the light.

RT-1.2153
60ft-2.5187
330ft-7.1023
1/8 ET-10.9427
1/8mph-63.95
1/4 ET-17.0226
1/4mph-78.03

I won that race by .8 seconds, so at least I was actually "faster" than him.
I need an FD so bad, lol.

I decided to hang it up for the night because it wasn't worth breaking **** to run 17's.

Ouch. Are your aux ports functioning properly? Might be worth the time to tear off the LIM and clean up the rods and sleeves.

That does seem really slow for a FC.

I might have to check that out. They seem to be functioning in that it picks up a little more power in the 3,800rpm range, but I could be wrong. Only "mods" I have are a 2.5" header, hollowed cat, HKS mufflers, cone filter, Miata short throw shifter, and e-fan.

Damn, those RTs are HIGH! I went to the track for my first time this past wednesday, and even my first run ever was a .74 RT...

Do all tracks use the same type of trees?

you should be able to get at least a 2.2 60' time, maybe better.

just go out in the middle of nowhere and practice launching.

This tree is teh suck because when the stang redlit, he had a 0.4927R/T. I think anything quicker than .5 at this track is red lighting. Also, my first time at the track in my 280ZX, I was running AWESOME times- R/T of .583, 60' of 2.3xx, 1/4E/T of 15.62 @ 86.5mph, so I at least have some experience. Also, I have an EXEDY stage 1 clutch, so I know my clutch wasn't slipping. It just seemed really weird though.

cutting a .500 is a perfect light.. so ofcourse anything quicker will be a red light. its a 500 light.
stage1
stage2
yellow1- .2 sec
yellow2- .1 sec
yellow3- .1sec
green- .1 sec

equals .500(from what i understand)

Don't feel bad. I ran a 15.sumthing in my S5 Jspec T2, with open intake and exhaust, on my first time out. Pretty pathetic.

jacobcartmill ran a fast time for an N/A

you've got a sports clutch and more ****, your launches are probably just poor, and something's not working properly.... obviously..

I dunno why you said this, but you're downright wrong.
Winner is determined by RT + ET.

To the OP, you're looking at maybe a mid 16-second run if you launch better to get your 60' times down.
That's perfectly normal for a non-turbo, so I dunno why you'd call it slow.
Getting a non-turbo to run 15's is NOT easy, but a lot of people seem to think so...

It doesn't seem THAT hard to me.
The only time I took my car to the track, I ran a 16.18@87.87, and that was with a 2.68 60ft time. It had malfunctioning VDI and aux ports that didn't open until almost 6k and a nasty high-rpm hesitation. The only mods were a RB header/presilencer and Apex N1 catback and a HAI (cone filter open to engine bay). This was on a s5 motor with 100k original miles on it and blown coolant and oil seals.....

Even in that condition, I could have run in the high 15's with a decent launch.

My old (streetported) engine ran a 15.99 with a 2.6x 60' and a blown gear shift (my first time ever to a track.)

Edit: just realized who the OP was.
Whats up, man? Where you running at Academy, or whatever its called these days?
