dyno'd

so i just bought my rx7 not to long ago from somebody on rx7 club and just had it dyno'd and tuned up a little. it has several mods to increase hp including apexi safc, rb catback, 3"downpipe, gutted cat, 720 secondary's, blitz intake.

i will try to put a picture of the dynosheet on later, but it didnt show a torque curve but the first pull it ran 163, we bumped up the numbers a little on the safc and pushed 183 rwhp. im just wondering though if those are some decent numbers for an 87 turbo 2 with those mods, i thought it would have been a little higher.

not that bad then... did it maintain that boost level or start to fall off? if you were really at the stock boost level then you improved over stock hp. your making at the wheels what it came with at the flywheel.

I put down 206rwhp with similar mods. It was about 10psi, 6k, in 3rd. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/7...090105c998.htm

well good to hear, i think im going to look into a greddy boost controller get it tuned for 12 as well as the stock 7 for daily driving, and maybe later a haltech piggyback after that i need to work on the body its not as good as what it can be.

I do believe stock ECU is mapped quite a bit after stock settings.

ecu

what kind of numbers are possible with aftermarket ecu? i think i want to go haltech because its probably more beginner appropriate and still a good tuneable system. i would say i have the correct supporting mods for more bost, i just need i guess the piggyback ecu and a boost controller,

720' secondaries, streetporting, 3" downpipe, gutted emissions, rb catback, blitz bov, inktake, and a 6 puck clutch to put the power to the ground

with a safc he can run 12psi with no problems, ive been running 12psi for a long time and there's a lot of people on this forum than run 12psi on stock ecu with a safc and i haven't heard any complaints about anyone.

you already have a piggyback ecu that's the safc and it all depends on what are you aiming for with your car, if you just want a 13 second car or a high 12 sec car then you can stay with the safc and you can achieve good hp numbers changing your front turbo housing to a bigger one, .60 is a normal upgrade on this cars. it's true that with an standalone you can achieve much better numbers and better tuning but is like i said it all depends on what are you aiming for and how big is your wallet cause standalones are pricey you now. with a safc, 720cc secondarys, complete exhaust, boost controller, upgraded fuel pump and running 12 psi you can get 220-230 whp or a little more, i have an s5 and i dynoed 220whp with just a full exhaust, safc, stock secondaries(already upgraded this was like a year ago) walbro fuel pump, turbosmart bov running at 11psi.

i knew i was forgetting something the previous owner said it also had a 255 walbro pump. the car already drinks gas (i swear my right shoe has lead in it), will the extra 5 psi make a big impression on gas? or will the extra compression allow it to burn more gas and not waste so much, or a little of both more burning and more gas dumped in? i know if i get a electronic boost controller i can run 7 and 12 with tuning it for for the 12 lbs also, but i guess i need to read up more upon how i can have 2 set air fuel mixtures with the safc. is the recirculating bov kit make a nice difference as far as turbo lag? i thought the stock turbo would spool before 2800 at only 7 lbs.

also, for those who have similiar mods, what do you run in the quarter? i hopefully will be going to the track at some point soon, and would like to have a good time to shoot for.
