confused after running slow time

i have a 87 n/a with a new motor with 15,000 miles. mods i have are a full racing beat exhaust including the header, and a K&n intake. my best time at the track last night was a 16.2 in the 1/4 mile. i was disappointed, thinking that i would at least be in the 15's. any suggestions?

I agree with SevenDreamz. Did you do a full tune up? Compression numbers? Keep going and learn to lauch. Lauching at a track is so different then launching on the street.

16's are quite normal for a S4 N/A... And without porting, the RB exhaust won't help you tremendously...

yeah my car is a 5 speed. my launches were definitely the problems i ran into. i was getting some pretty bad wheel hopping. my shifts were pretty smooth at aroung 7000 rpm. i definitely think my launch is what hurt me.

I truly believe w/ a good 60' time u will be in the 15's....just keep workin on it...my first time at the track was horrible...my 60' times were like 2.3 and 2.4's....OUCH....but i got alot better just after a few tries....

It's insane how much 60' times will help you. Just keep practicing.....might try a dry burnout instead of going through the burnout box.

I dunno why you think a 16.2 is slow?
16.2 is pretty damn fast for your mods.

What was your 60' time?
Was it 2.2 or faster?

The car is still running pretty damn rich, and you need some kinda fuel computer to dial out all that extra fuel.

Get an SAFC and dyno tune it. Is your clutch holding?
