This thread is a prime example of internet cancer, everyone exaggerates a tiny little bit, make that **** sound more gangster than it really is.

OP: Great build, good to see people doin their own things. You're right, the car could have been a more attractive with a bit more pull stock.

Everyone else bashing him an QQ'ing about him taking out the rotary; shut up. it's his car FFS.

Also, what's with everyone's cost estimates? Completely off... Not just in this thread, but all over the internet... Injectors for $500? lmfao what are you building a drag car with 3000cc/min secondaries?

Congratulations to the original poster for your hard work on the car. I have always been intrigued with the idea of a v-8 rx7.

CA

lmmfao that was a good read. my twin turbo gmc sierra gets 25mpg highway and pulls most stock ls1 camaros and such even at 4500lbs.

soooo i picked up an 88 rx7 and am doing the same thing. (pretty much)
1988 rx7 gxl shell 600$
6.0 lq4 shortblock 500$
ported heads with good valves/ springs 300$
china gt35r turbochargers and external wastegates 675$
fully built th400 trans 1000$
used jic coilovers 450$
complete fuel system 400$ i had parts laying around
driveshaft and misc including exhaust 800$ max

so basically under 5k building a low 9 high 8 sec rx7

HAHA this thread is funny. LS1 stock those numbers are good, full bolts ons would be great, 150 shot and full bolt ons and that's a 5-550 whp. Nice! I read something about traction and it made me laugh, I'm sorry but 300hp ls1 or rotary in a 2600lb car in the rain or snow is going to be fun either way lol...

Only read first page an I gotta say this, if your going to blow the money and ruin (yes ruin considering rx7's are rotary, it's like buying a diesel and putting a gas engine in it = ruined!!!) why not do a 3rotor or a 4 rotor swap?
A stock 3 rotor no mods would rape your ls motor, and a 4 rotor would just destroy your ls no matter how many mods, I've seen 4 rotors hit 1800hp and 40psi with tq numbers well over 1100.
So if you want torque get a bigger rotary, not an ls.
BUT...
all bashing aside an ls swap is a common thing, and it takes money to fab the mounts and all that, so congrads
