MD 88 TII at MIR 13.3 at 104.15

Went up to MIR today and decided to run after getting her back up and running. I'm really pleased with the passes as the last time I was at the track I ran a 14.1 as my fastest. Got the new secondaries put it as well as the RTek 1.7 and wideband. Running the stock turbo at 14 psi. I'll list more mods if ya'll care to see them.

the slips:

car #986 left side both runs.

first reads
r/t: .403
60': 2.205
330: 6.002
1/8: 9.068
MPH: 81.79
1000: 11.652
1/4: 13.836
MPH: 103.97

second run:
r/t: .341
60': 1.909
330: 5.527
1/8: 8.559
MPH: 82.54
1000: 11.150
1/4: 13.330
MPH: 104.15

on the second run I launched quite a bit harder and feathered the clutch.

Today was a test and tune so I was racing quite built mustang 5.0's getting ready for Import Vs. Domestic. Had a few of them impressed with my numbers coming from a 1.3L. So that was pretty cool.

That's a VERY nice time considering what little mods you have. Good job!

what tires are you running?

And I thought boosting past 12psi only created more heat and hurt performance?

Good 60' times by the way

Here's a list of my current modifications:

• Ported the internal wastegate
• Rtek 1.7 chipped ecu
• 750cc secondary fuel injectors
• Walbro 255lph fuel pump
• Aem uego wideband
• 3 1/8 inch turbo back corksport power-sport exhaust (single exit)
• 3 inch turbo intake duct with HKS green mushroom top intake
• a/c, power steering, subzero coolant, rats nets, and charcoal canister removed
• corksport radiator cover
• Koenig countersteer r 16x7 wheels with 25mm offset
• ACV and EGR blocked off and air pump removed. Car is running without emissions
• Greddy RS blue top BOV
• Greddy Profec Spec B electronic boost controller (installed but I’m not actually using it to up the boost. It is currently running at a max boost of 14 psi, that’s all the stock turbo can take. I was planning on installing a BNR stage 1 turbo… haven’t gotten there yet)
• Centerforce Heavy Duty Pressure Plate

And the tires are Yokohama Avid H4's

I had heard that it was anything above 14. I haven't run it at 12 so I can't post any time differences or anything like that. I'd be interested in trying it again though at 12.

Oh and by the way. That time was posted on the original motor with 126k miles!

I would NOT be surprised if your turbo died in the next month. :/ Good stuff anyways.

Also just wanted to mention that I've been rocking this setup for quite some time now.

At 104mph you've got a possible 12.9 in your future if you can get it off the line.

Personally, throw some meth injection on that thing and you'll be amazed what the stock turbo can do after its had some chemical intercooling added to the equation.

Here's a video of the first run if anyone cares to see it. Unfortunately the second run wasn't filmed, which had a much better launch.

After 13psi your turbo make no HP. Just a bunch unnecessary heat to your engine. How does your turbo hold 14 psi after 6k rpms. Is it good or does it drop?

Im ran 13.9 on stock turbo and intercooler. Also, stock fuel injectors and dry rotted tires. Its possible, but I couldnt hold more than 13 psi after 6k rpms. I have an external wastegate on my stock turbo with a .9 bar spring. I know a manual boost controller wont keep pressure with out dropping and I wounder if using an electronic boost controller will make it stay at the boost pressure I want with out dropping after 6k rpms.

::::::Shoafero::: Does your boost controller keep boost pressure at 14 psi all the way to redline?

The boost actually holds really well through 7k rpm. Like I said, the boost controller isn't turned on. I only use it right now to read boost (it does this when turned off). Before I had the 3" TID/HKS intake combo, I used it to up the boost. But once I got those, it builds and holds 14 psi without the boost controller (also with the ported wastegate).

Of course 1st and 2nd gear don't get to 14, but 3rd and 4th hold 14 all the way to 7k.

Thanks for the replies. I do plan on getting a BNR stage 1 at some point, however for the time being, I'm quite happy with my stocker.

When I started working on the car, 13.5 was my goal time and as you can see I've beat it. So I'm not sure if now I want to start working on the exterior of the car and do random odds and ends or if I should continue with more parts. Honestly I'm really happy with the whole setup as it is now.

We'll see.
