13.32 @ 105.11 AK Raceway Park

I ran my new best time of 13.32 @ 105.11 mph., last night at Alaska Raceway Park. And I made it to the semi-finals in Import Street Performance.
..I'll be more carefull about choosing my dial in next time.

Reaction .5330
60' 2.0820
330' 5.6791
1/8 et 8.6399
1/8 mph 83.80
1/4 et 13.3272
1/4 mph 105.11

I could've impoved my 2.08 60' alot if I had some slicks,.. or at least aired down my tires some more.

My new goal is 12.xx on the stock turbo.

Here's my last thread, where I did 13.56 @103mph.
My mods are still the same as listed here.

Hey, What's everyone's fastest time on the stock turbo?
I tried to search that up, but too many words were eliminated from my search, makeing it irrelevant.

12.6 @ 110 - don't quote me on the trap speed.
Jeff Hurst of the old TeamFC3S mailing list managed to do that.
It was crazy though - 17 to 18psi on the stock turbo!

That's a nice time!
I managed to do a 13.447 @ 105.00 years ago with a crappy 2.1xx 60'.
Congrads!

J-rat, That's cool, Good time. I wonder what it would have been at sea level, or how much difference does that make?

Ted, Thanks. That Congrad's means alot to me.
FC3S Pro was Really helpful as a reference when building my car.
damn!, that guy did 12.6 on the stocker! that's awsome.
Was the car gutted & had slicks on?

Snowball, Yeah I guess I should change my avatar
I sold the GSL-SE a few weeks ago, and just bought an 87 TII last week for cheep.
allready selling it for a huge profit. -lol all the way to the bank.

Ben, Hurry up & get back from Iraq!
so I can race you at the track before you upgrade your turbo.
..And how about selling me your old turbo when you get your new one hooked up?
Isn't it a T04somthing?, I can't remember..

Well the air here in sunny old tucson is not only 3000 ft THIN, but its very dry and hot too. Not very conducive to making power. I would imagine that I could have replicated the 12.6 that Ted spoke about (or at least gotten close) if I was a little further down. Hell, I had already disconnected the wastegate, and the turbo was barely making 15 PSI...

Lets look at your stats:

Reaction .5330
60' 2.0820
330' 5.6791
1/8 et 8.6399
1/8 mph 83.80
1/4 et 13.3272
1/4 mph 105.11

Your 60 foot is not all that good (actually its decent, but an FC can do better). Myself and others have made 1.8 60 foots on street tires. A 1.8 60 foot would translate to about 12.9 for you at the top of the 1/4. My 13.1 was at 101 MPH, so at 105, your power is there, you just have to get it to the ground more efficiently. What launch technique were you using? Tire size and brand?

Nevermind, I found it...

17x8 mustang GT rims
General Exclaim UHP 225/45/17 front 245/40/17 rear

Dont know about those tires, but if you want to get into the 12s, you are going to need some sticky rubber.

Yeah, we're around Sea Level, and it was about 50 degrees outside, so That definatly helped.

I had my back tires at 23 psi. but learned after the races that I could have cut that in half
when I talked to a guy with a 350Z who was aired down to 12psi.
I probly could have improved my 60' quite a bit, just by airing down some more.
What pressures do you run with?

My launch technique was:

1st burnout & shoot some flames for the Spectators..

next, for the launch. I'd rev to about 4500 & let the clutch out pretty fast, but trying not to spin the tires too much.
I think I was rapping out 1st too much before shifting to 2nd though.
I was getting a little wheel spin going into second, and chirping 3rd.

Then from there I was shifting up at about 6200rpm, & making it well into 4th gear before shutting down.

Can you give me any pointers on what makes for a good lauch?

Thanx for the kind words...

No, the car wasn't extremely lightened.
It was running on either older D40M2 or SP8000 Dunlops.
The 17 to 18psi on the stock turbo is just plain scary!
This was on the stock TMIC.

running 11 psi, last time i did 220whp without the boost controller, fuel pressure regulator, e-fan and radiator. my psi where dropping from 11 to like 7 at 6000 rpms, i have to tune it again and i hope that this time it stays at 11 psi to see if i can make better hp.
