Tuned by Steve Kan

Last night thanks to CCarlisi, I got tuned by Steve Kan. He's doing a bunch more cars today, but I thought I'd share my results.
First of all, I want to say that Steve is an awesome guy. It doesn't even need to be said that he is an awesome tuner, but he's just a great guy. He took the time to explain what he was doing to the rookies in the group (i.e. me) and answered all my questions. Not to mention that he flew up from Texas to tune. Thanks a bunch Steve!

Anyway, the car was on the dyno under Steves watchful eye for about 2 hours. He did some 7 psi pulls, some 10 psi pulls, and some 12 psi pulls. He also did a few part throttle no boost pulls (which made a whopping 105 hp!) to tune driveability. The results:
At 10 psi the car made 237.1 hp and 213.1 ft.lbs of torque
And at 12 psi it made 260.2 hp and 228.3 ft lbs.

This dyno chart shows the top three pulls at 7,10, and 12 psi. (from top, 10,7,12)

http://images.fotopic.net/?id=136241...ze=1&nostamp=1

And this one is the 12 psi only chart
http://images.fotopic.net/?id=136241...ze=1&nostamp=1

So, whataya think? Mods in sig.

It's nice to see what A/F Steve tunes for, although I am wondering why he stayed in the tens. Did you tell him to make conservative power with a nice safe area?

So your only real performance mods are a downpipe, intake, and PFC? Those numbers look really good!

Steve was tuning for 10.8 because I told him that more mods were to come very soon. He said if he tuned for 10.8 I'd be able to add a cat-back, hi flow, or intercooler and the AFR should be about 11.1 which is what he normally tunes for.

And thanks for the compliments everyone. I was impressed with the numbers, having only dp, intake, pfc. KDR makes a good motor!

Cat-back was in the plans for this summer (among other things) but I blew my motor in April, and between that and everything else KDR found with the car, all my mod money was spent. I was scraping the bottom of the barrell to come up with tuning money, but cat-back is soon to come (RB dual tip).

For intake and dp at 10.8 a/f that's pretty damn good. Is your motor ported or just rebuilt?

Very nice smooth powerband. It looks like nice conservative fuel tuning. Do you know what kinds of changes he made to your ignition timing, if any? How does the car drive around town?

The more I hear about Steve Kan, the more I want my car tuned by him.

Motor is just rebuilt. I wanted it ported, and I swear I told the good folks at KDR that, but it isn't.

I actually saw that, and I'm really tempted, but also really poor. If the price is right I might be able to swing it though.

I watched a lot, but didn't learn much. So I have no idea what he did to my ignition timing. He did tune for driveability, so the car is smoother than ever around town.

If you tell me where to look, and what to look for, I can tell you whether or not he made changes. But I'm a total newb when it comes to the Power FC. So walk me through it.

Steve is a Great Guy. He even helps out with Issues that arise and tries to get you 100% so he can give you your moneys worth on the dyno. Some things just cant be overcome but he is worth the money.

Had mine tuned by steve too, same mods basically but i have a cat back, so cb, dp, intake, pfc on mine....and I had him tuned as if i was going to install a medium IC...he got about the same results, like 260-270 hp with a conservative afr...he is good, and excellent to deal with.

I saw a KDR "street port", if you could call it that. Looked like someone did it left handed and blindfolded!@

Exhaust ports were left untouched.

I've heard a bit more about KDR since I picked my car up from them. ZoomZoom told me a little about his experience with them (all 4 motors this year!) and their porting (he said I'd do better with a file and 5 minutes). Maybe I didn't want it ported afterall?

Just had mine tuned by Steve last weekend here in Phoenix. Car drives far better than it ever has. Since we only have 91 octane here in AZ, he tunes to 10.8. In states with 93 octane he'll tune from 11.1 to 11.3.

It was truly awesome to watch him tune for driveability on the dyno. He takes the car through the rpm range in 500 rpm increments. You can actually hear the car improving as he's making changes at each condition. Kinda like watching a world-class rotary surgeon. Great guy and awesome results. Very happy I had it done!!
