Im buying some rims off a forum member, 5Zigen FN0R-Cs, and need to know if they will fit or will need spacers of some kind. Im sure I will need overfenders of some sort, but what about rubbing on suspension components? Im planning on just running Tokico Illuminas and RB springs. The wheel sizes and offsets are as follows:

Front: 17x9 +15 offset 255/40/17
Rear: 17x10 +35 offset 285/40/17

Tires are Kumho MXs'

Fronts are fine - if anything they *might* need a thin / small spacer.

The rears are a problem - by my experience you need at least a 1/2" spacer if not more to make them fit.

No ways those tires are going to stay under stock fenders - expect overfenders to cover them.

Alright, after sifting through the bs in this thread and trying to get to the "meat" of it...let me see if I have my specs correct for my upcoming FC project.

I am going to be running Volk Gt-P's

Front: 17x8 +30 to +25 225/45/17
Rear: 17x9 +25 to +10 255/40/17

If I'm correct these rims with those offsets/tires will work. I am going for as "flush" a look as possible with the lines of the car...but don't want to "stick out" at all. Also do not want to have to run any kind of spacer. I guess its time to look up what offsets those wheels are available in from Volk. Thanks for the information...my suggestion is to take the meat out of this thread and have a seperate sticky with it, so no one has to sort through all 41 pages of mostly bs.

what is the fatest tire you can fit on a 7 inch rim and it not look retarded?

 

225/50R15 or 16. Higher profile can go a little wider, lower profile should be a little narrower. I ran 225/50R15 Kumho Victoracers on my old road race car.

 

In the rear.... I'd stick closer to the +20 I think a +10 is goin to push the wheels out past the fender (with a 255/40 on a +10... its going to push the tire out about 55mm over a stock TII wheel/tire.. so you can go from there a +20 willl push it out about 45mm... )

 

Setup: Pro-N1 by Black Racing/5 Zigen

Fronts: 38mm offset 17x8 w/ 225/45's
Rears: 38mm offset 17x9 w/ 255/40's

The only mod necassary to do this wheel combo is swaping the front springs for a set of coil overs or other non-tapered spring. other than that there are no fitment issues.

Kumho MX 225/45 and 255/40 is my setup, they are within 0.5% of the factory 205/55 tire diameter, so no worries about speedo being off.

the 225/45 leaves about 1/4inch of clearance between the spring perch and the wheel/tire up front. i think a 235 would fit. as for the rear there is plenty of room for at least a 275 if not more.

Take a pic of the rear suspension with the camera on the ground looking up at the area where the tire and the swingarm are the closest... (front, inside of the tire)...

I have no doubt the 255's fit... but i bet its a lot closer than you think.... did you look at the spring/shock to the tire, or did you look up under at the front of the tire/swingarm...

I'm having trouble believeing that you'll be able to fit a 275 on there with a +38 offset on the rears... ..... a 255 is about the max on a 38mm, especially being that there is about 10mm to my 245's on 8.5 with 245/45' with a 39mm offset.

I'm compliling a list.. so if you can prove it. i;klk

 

Yo.... from what i gathered

17x8 40 MM with 215 Tires will work in the front... And will be fine for the back? If i wanted to upgrade to a 225 in the front I would need a small spacer?

It all depends on tires. I had to add a spacer w/ the RT 615 tires. So add this to your list. A 275-40-17 RT 615 will fit w/ +33mm offset 17 x 9.5.. My wheel is a +38 but these tires are blocky... My Pirelli's didn't need a spacer, but it was close. And just for the record I haven't looked to see if they rub without the 5mm spacer

The fronts are 225-40-17 +40mm 17 x 8.5. Again, close with the new tires.

 

I just removed the 5mm spacer and it doesn't rub... I'll probably run the spacer, that or do some grind'n

 

One more final question from me...
I will be running 18X7.5 +42 wheels with 225/40/18 hankook aurora k103 tires (new ultra high performance)
I am picking up some 8mm spacers and longer wheel studs for the front this week (unless someone sells me some coilovers)and was wondering if handling will be affected by having spacers in the front but not in the rear ?

Should i be running spacers and longer studs all around ? and will i need open ended lugs if i want to put my stock wheels back on ?

Or is there a good shock/spring setup that will give me the extra clearance so i dont need to hassle with spacers/studs as i am having a hard time locating some previously enjoyed coilovers

Oh yea? Well the wheels I got from a buddies TII have 255s out back on a 7''.

 

I'd be careful with that... You might be okay in a straight line, but on a corner it could get kinda weird....

 

Who was the dumbass that mounted the tire?
Go ask ANY tire manufacturer, no 255 street tire is designed to fit safely on a 7.0" rim.

will 16x7 +25 fit all around? what tire size do you guys recommend?

Remember, stock rims are 7" wide +40, so your 7" wide +27 is about half and inch less offset - this means the rim is pushed outwards by 1/2".
This will get close to the front fenders.

I'd run 225/50/16 on those rims.
If you're worried about clearance, 205/55/16 stock sized tires work fine also.

Hmm, maybe someone can help me here for just the front:

17x8 (+25 or +35 offset) with 225/45/17 tires NOT on coilovers

As I see it, if I choose the +25 offset, I will be rolling the fenders quite a bit, but it will clear the spring and perch no problem. If I run the +35 offset, I will more likely than not, hit the spring and perch... but if I put on 5mm spacers, I should clear them, and maybe just barely have to "touch up" the fenders.

Which would be the better choice and why?

What kind of rims? Any pictures of the actual wheel? Honestly, I don't have a problem with stretched tires, but this is a bit much, IMO. I'd be scared to drive near a curb for fear of screwing my rims up.

I guess with that offset you didn't have a lot of choice, but a 225 would probably have been a better choice.

I just got my Work Termist wheels in from Rishie at ARD. The setup is this:
Front 17x9 +15 255-40/17
Rear 17x9 +30 255-40/17

There R33 GTR wheels, The stretching is just a style thing I set it up with the spacers to look like that. The wheel offset is +30, My fronts are rolled with my setup so if you running stock fenders your going to have to pull yours to fit that size tire.

Ted, I have the AIT front fenders that I'll be installing. Until I can get them painted I'll just roll the living crap out of the stock ones. LOL. They won't be on the car very long.

FWIW, the AIT fenders are supposed to give me approximately 22mm of extra clearance up front.

Like I said, I'll get pics up as soon as I get everything mounted.
